Muscle flexing

After my early morning walk today, I again passed by the seaside and chanced upon these paddlers flexing and strengthening their muscles. I noticed a few girls in the group. They are probably preparing for the dragon boat race during the city's fiesta celebration later this month.

Interesting, I think dragonboat is fast becoming popular this days. I also see in Manila bay doing their practice every time I pass by that area early in the morning.

@sunrisefan Yeah that made me curios as well. I think it can be dismantled and reinstalled back again. LOL I do not know really.

Yes, I also think dragon boat race is becoming popular. I'm just wondering how they would bring their boat like for examble for our racers here - how do they bring their boat when they join a dragon boat race in Manila? Do they load the boat in the big passenger ships? I don't think they would be paddling all the way from the Visayas to Manila :)

@rsa101 I think the only thing that can be dismantled is the dragon head carving at the front of the boat. I don't think you can dismantle the boat's body (or is that called hull?).

so that's how they flex and strengthen their muscles. I have seen dragon boats contest before, because they are held at the sea fronting our view deck,. They are so exciting to watch. Team effort and synchronization is a must.

It's the first time I saw dragon boat paddlers do this. I always thought that their preparation will only be practising on board a dragon boat.

@SIMPLYD I only chanced upon them when we passed by the seaside. On many occasions, I only see them from afar in their dragon boat. That is why I wasted no time to take shots at them. Good thing I now bring my camera more often when we do our walking. Of course I leave the camera inside the car :)

Yes, I think that would indeed be a good exercise. I saw one of the girls whose legs were muscle-fit when they walked towards the shore after their practice.

Thanks, Ms. Dianne :) Yes, rowing develops muscle power especially on the shoulder and arms and even the legs.

Yes, it's fun to watch dragon boat races because of the rythm the paddlers do as they paddle their boats. I've seen the paddlers on many mornings but this was one rare occasion that I saw them practice while just standing on shallow water. There has been a series of competitive sports events in our city lately like beach volleyball which was participated in by big universities and college from the metropolis and another one which was also participated in by volley belles and men from Japan and Hongkong. There was also a widely participated triathlon event with over 400 joining.
