Do you know how to girl?

United States

I am no good at "girling". I'm really not. I'm a hoodie and a pair of jeans type girl, hair in a pony tail and out the door. Of course, I put deodorant and perfume on but that's about it. Now I need to know how to "girl" and I'm just not any good at it. I've changed my outfit three times. Do you know how to "girl" ?

Most of the time I'm comfortable in jeans and hoodies but I do wear make up/dressier clothes now and then when going somewhere like church. My children always look nice when going out-more than I do most of the time. Lol. I do LOVE perfume though. =)

I need to buy some more of my favorite perfumes but I haven't had the money to splurge on it yet. I get my perfume from etsy. I have eyeshadow and lip balm and that's about it. I don't even wear the eye shadow that much anymore.

This is a odd question. I wear dresses most of the time, I wear a bit of make up to go out (not if I stay home), I do not think it's difficult to be a bit girlish.

I don't even own a dress, let alone a skirt. If I was to wear a dress, I'd put leggings underneath it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have skirts too, but I usually prefer a dress.

@LadyDuck I have some of both. I think I like skirts because the top and skirt can fit my longer torso more appropriately. @ScribbledAdNauseum leggings under a skirt are cute. I have done that. I try not to go too girl as it makes people think that they have forgotten some special occasion. Tinted moisturizer or BB cream, as it helps my complexion. All day wear lip stain for color that I do not have to worry about.

Nope. Lol. I have no idea how to do more than a bun, ponytail and simple braid. Or anything more than eyeliner and lipgloss for makeup. And I barely wear dresses more than twice a year (if that). But I'm fine with that as I like wearing shorts, leggings, sweats or jeans with a tee or sweater. And having my hair in a simple pony or bun.

@Courtlynn Your so pretty I'd love to do your hair and makeup just for the fun of it. I used to have a friend in school who would let me do her makeup. A touch of eyeshadow and mascara and she looked gorgeous. She had to wash it off before she went home though since her dad wouldn't allow her to wear it.

I would LOVE to do the crown braid but I honestly don't think I could manage doing that one on my own. I used to take the top layer of my hair, part it and then make two separate braids, gather all of that up and put it in a pony tail and call it a day.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm not so good doing braids on my own head, but when doing others I'm much better. I wont dare try something other than the simple braid. I'll probably knot the persons hair.

I usually wear a blouse and jeans but I wear earrings and makeup and sometimes a dress or skirt. Do you call that girly? Why do you have to be girly?

I have a boyfriend now. I don't always have to be girly, but I thought it would be nice every once in awhile. I was thinking of getting my ears pierced again.

@RubyHawk Yes, I did. I actually had to piercings on each earlobe at one time. I've had my ears pierced several times. I might be able to manage a dress and a little bit of eyeshadow and lip gloss but I think I'll forgo the heels. I am already clumsy enough.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Did you let your piercings grow closed? It’s not hard to put on a dress, heels and a little makeup.Try it when you’re going out.

Either a comfy "girl colored" flannet and a fancy tee shirt with those jeans, or a tunic top with leggings is one way to go. I prefer leggings. Pull half your hair back in a pony tail, leave some down. Earrings. Or pull little bits of hair in front of your ears and make ringlets. Not too fussy. I, seldom do "girl" but find that the earrings do a good bit for the whole idea. My hair is too short to pull back now and it automatically looks more girlish.

I was thinking about getting my ears pierced again. I'd also like to dig out my mom's earrings and get rid of some that were cheapish / don't have matches anymore and then somehow repair, or find someone who can repair, a pair that has her name on them. I've gotten my ears pierced several times over the years but I always let them grow back after awhile because I don't want to fuss with it. My idea of "curling" my hair is combing it out after a shower and then braiding it while it's wet. The next day I let it out and brush some of the kinks out and it looks "wavy". I love the tunic style shirts, well if they are what I am thinking they are. The ones with the pretty beads or stitching on the top of the blouse? I wear tennis shoes or flip flops, I may still have a pair of boots somewhere but I doubt it, I think i got rid of them years ago. In my teenage years and young adult years, I was all for the boots and earrings and cute outfits, but I've never been one for dresses. My hair is long, I haven't had it cut in years but I do trim it myself every once in awhile. I would love to have short hair but it doesn't look good on me.

I wear makeup anytime I go out. I dress comfortably but girl clothes. Pink is my favorite color! I wear perfume email every day as well. I almost never do my hair. I guess I'm average on girlyness. But I don't care if I am girly or many to others I'm me and enjoy what I want without worrying what others think. I hope you feel that way about yourself to. If you don't want to be super girl then it's fine your not

@ScribbledAdNauseum I brush my hair after a shower maybe once a week when it gets matted real bad. I pull the front hair out of my eyes with bobby pins and pull the rest back in a low ponytail. I don't really consider that doing my hair though. When I actually bother to do my hair I wet it, lather it up with conditioner and let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse it out. Then dry it with a towel, brush it and add a hair mask or something like that to it so it won't frizz. I just don't leave the house much so I don't bother to take the time to do it.

@shaggin I understand that. I don't really leave the house all that much. Well, lately I've been walking the neighborhood, but I usually wear a hoodie anyway. I have a straightener that was gifted to me, it's one of those as seen on t.v. ones which is basically a hair brush that heats up. I don't wear any product in my hair.

I brush my hair and then I am done. I don't curl it, unless you count putting it in braids as curling it.

I've always been a girly girl. Like Deborah K. Mitchell, my sister has always been a tom boy so we're totally different. I love to dress up, wear heels and makeup. Well, except when I go to the gym, but even then, I don't want to look sloppy.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am not able to wear heals since before my toe surgery. I do not do flats well, either. Mostly I wear athletic shoes. I paid three dollars for some leopard print canvas at Wally World, and wear my special insoles. Boots of all kinds are popular with girls here. Including cowboy boots.

I just don't know how to wear a dress. If I were to wear one, it would be one that I could wear with leggings. I'm not comfortable in them, and neither am I in heels, unless they are boot heels.

I tend to semi-girl. I love unique girly shoes and like to wear dresses or long tunics, but I'm just as comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, with Converse or DMs on my feet. Never leave the house without concealer and eye-liner either.

I put on lip gloss (not lipstick because it dries my lips out very quickly!) and eye shadow every once in awhile. I wear Vans, I haven't worn converse in ages because they always made my feet hurt very quickly. I've recently rid myself of a lot of clothes I no longer wear but I need to buy some new ones to replace it. I do like the shirts they have now that are short in the front but longer in the back, I am not sure what they are called.

Do you know of any thrift stores for clothing in our area? Other than the goodwill and salvation army? I feel like there used to be one downtown, but I might be thinking of the Salvation Army on Trade St.

@SophiaMorros I totally forgot about Mega Thrift off of peters creek. I'll have to check that out. I *think* I know where Next Step Ministries is but I have a friend who lives out that way and I'll just ask her to be sure.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Mega Thrift off of Peter's Creek Pkwy. I do most of my thrift shopping at Next Step Ministries on 66 in Kernersvill. Cothes and shoes are 50% on Thursdays and their prices are already better than Goodwill. It's hit or miss though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have some shoes with really high heels. I bought them because I liked the way they looked, but it is really hard to walk when I wear them. I guess I have to practice in my home before I start wearing them outside

@Porcospino I once had a pair that were nice. The boot went up to about my knee if I remember correctly. The heel was more narrow than any of the others, but they were pretty and I liked them. I fell a time or two in them.

@leny34 I'm pretty sure it's just the deodorant I use. It's not as effective since it doesn't have aluminium in it, or it doesn't have a lot of aluminium in it.
