If you have been watching the latest news about fires in Paradise, California, up north and other places in southern California lately, it is something very alarming. They called one fire A CAMP FIRE, that resulted in thousands of acres and hundreds of homes destroyed, and several people dying. If this is not a wake up call, as many Ft. Worth, TX firefighters have been dispatched to those areas most recently, it is a sad reflection on the current administration for which Trump more or less said, that it was something that was a result of poor management on the part of firefighters I think. Well, whatever he Tweeted, it shows us that, based on the angry reactions from firefighters and others who are doing their level best to PUT OUT THOSE FIRES, is a wake up call for our nation to take notice of the needless words that come from the top that suggest THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOBS well enough. I think that is a load of garbage to even say such a thing. I think and I know that the fires are a sign of global climate change, but basically, The firefighters ARE DOING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN and I in fact praise them for their heroic and timely efforts to PUT OUT THOSE FIRES IN CALIFORNIA.

Is it called a Camp Fire because somebody started it and it got out of control?

Yep. I heard the term Camp Fire and here is a link to that term being used in the news about it. From the Washington Post.
The fire has leveled a California community called Paradise and killed at least 23 people, with many more still missing.

@lookatdesktop So, is this fire a result of carelessness, foolishness or lack of common sense?

While doing their duty, firefighters put their lives on the line and not quite a few of them die while doing their job. It's such a shame to say they're not doing their duty.

I have been looking this in the news and it is terrifying. I hope that the new planes they have to put out the fires help. They did in the worst fire we had in my country last year.

The American people know that our brave firefighters are doing their best, but they are fighting a losing battle in a sense because of cuts in funding and staffing due to short-sightedness of our elected officials. The way our climate keeps changing (fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes), pretty soon FEMA and our emergency responders will need to be as heavily funded as our military. What I find interesting about the California fires is the fact that there is still parts of the state left to burn. They've had several bad years in a row with wildfires, you would think that the entire state would have burned down by now, leaving nothing left to burn. Sadly, at the rate these fires are going, that will probably be the case in a couple more years.

@moffittjc , The homes and landscapes are now charred and hellish looking places and I know that many who once admired these areas are going to search for better prospects and try to regroup. But, there was never a way to prevent a lot of the fires, with the high winds that carry the embers across large areas of brush that is drier than ever due to lack of rainfall and higher summer temperatures of recent years.

I try not to be fatalistic about that. I see the fires as a wake up call for America to prepare for things to come and funding for it should be maximum. I would personally move out of California if I was living there.
