Living in Gulf Shores

An article caught my eye that wrote about interesting small towns in the U.S. well worth a visit or a move to. Since I am not sure if I am staying where I live presently I found this very intriguing. The first town which has a population of a little over 10,000 is Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is known for its annual Hangout Music Festival where you can enjoy lots of music and see good-ole-boys having fun. This is a beach town on the Gulf of Mexico. It is known for the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo which is one of the best zoos in America and offers visitors hands-on encounters with lemurs, kangaroos, and sloths. Next up is the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge where sea turtles and migratory birds thrive in the coastal habitats. Finally, there is Gulf State Park which is considered to be the best state park in Alabama and has lots of bike trails. The city of Gulf Shores also got its first brewery in 2016 called Big Beach Brewing. With the balmy water of the Gulf of Mexico, the peacefulness of a small town, encounter with nature, and a brewing company as well this sounds like quite a nice place to live. What do you all say?

That sounds like an awesome place to visit for sure! Is the photo of that place or where you live? I live in a small town of about 300 people but no one wants to move here and there is nothing at all exciting to do here lol.

@RasmaSandra Lol well I knew where you live but I guess I am just to tired because even reading it was in the gulf of Mexico I still thought it was where you lived. Lol that is a big clue I need to go to bed goodnight!

I am writing about American small towns that they say are great to live in. They say but as you can see by previous discussions that this place gets hurricanes because it is on the Gulf of Mexico but visiting can be nice @shaggin the photo comes from WIki. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida.

So is the ' Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge' in that same city of ten thousand people it somewhere else entirely? Living on our by a beach sounds great but I don't think I'd live where hurricanes might travel through too often I lived two blocks from a beach in CT one year and that was nice too

Right now in Florida, I live between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River both of which I could walk to @MarshaMusselman

@RasmaSandra are all those places you mentioned in or near the same city?

@MarshaMusselman I live in my friend's two-story house in Daytona Beach Florida. I have my own little apartment. When I go out if I go to the left I can walk to the beach and the ocean and if I go to the right I can get to the river.

It sounds nice. Forgive my ignorance here, but is it prone to hurricanes?

That is what we are all just discussing too many hurricanes so it is not a very good place to live in after all @Fluera they just conveniently write about the town but do not mention the weather
