It's not too surprising with the weather we had today, well actually it kind of was, because I haven't had a power outage here that lasted more than a moment or two here for years. We didn't have any ice on the lines here..we got no freezing rain, so not really sure what happened. It was off for about 45 minutes I think. Roomie said he didn't care about it, as long as it was back on for the football game lol.

We had a power outage when Florence hit, and we had a brown out or two when Michael came a knockin' on the door. Florence had us out for about four hours? maybe six? I forget. I'm glad yours was only out for 45 minutes.

@snowy22315 That's what my family and I do, or well, somewhat. We gather in the same room for a few minutes, but the other two can sleep when the power is out. I can't. It's too hot, or too cold, or too dark. However, I have read when the power was out. We have several oil lamps, some candles, plenty of flashlights, and I have a USB rechargeable moon lamp that I read by last time. Did you guys talk about anything interesting? or just stuff to pass the time?

I think you aren't much affected even if it was for 45 minutes. That's because you have a cold climate. But if the climate is so hot, then it is a problem, like here when there is power outage specially at night when we will be sleeping already.

@snowy22315 Here we suffer a day or two blackouts if a typhoon hits our province. That is why, we have rechargeable solar lamps and small fans.

Weird that you had a power outage without apparent reason.

I had two power outages yesterday. One lasted 4 hours. The other lasted about 9 hours. The rain and tree limbs were to blame.

Oh man, I'm glad it was only out for 45 minutes. Our lights blinked, so it was concerning, as we had snow, hail and rain (mainly hail and rain) yesterday. Luckily, the power never went out. That would've put a damper in my work schedule lol.

We've had a lot of power outages here in Louisville because of an unexpected ice storm. I think it's about 30,000 citywide, but it's very scattered. My brother lives across the river in southern Indiana, and he's been without power since about 3:30 AM this morning. The electric company's web site says the ETA for restoration is in three days. Thankfully, my brother has a fireplace and a generator.

In 2007 there was an on outage like that due to an ice storm and the power was off for 3 days fortunately it never got below 57 in the house.

Yeah especially if it is cold or hot....it wasn't super warm in the house with just the heaters on to begin with.

We rarely have power outages as well. Usually it doesn't last more than 10-15 minutes.
