We’re trying hard to get everyone in the family eating their 5 or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day – but it can be tricky when you have a fussy child.
Little One has very selective tastes shall we say – she won’t touch bananas, strawberries, clementines, plums, apricots, raisins or many other fruits loved by children, only apples and the occasional orange, and she doesn’t like many vegetables either except carrots, sweetcorn, edamame (soy) beans, cucumber, peppers (as long as they are not cooked) and olives. I guess that’s not too bad but if she finds some other thing she likes it is a cause for celebration! The other day she discovered she likes dried cranberries – hurrah!
As she was eating one she picked out the little bits inside and asked ‘Are these the seeds?’ ‘Yes’ I told her, so she asked ‘can we plant them?’ I explained that we didn’t have the right conditions to grow them, so of course she asked where they do grow and I turned to YouTube for something to show her. And that’s when I discovered my newest favourite presenter.
Together we watched this video about growing cranberries – then we watched several others about peppers, lemons and mushrooms. Little One loved them – and so did I. They seem to strike just the right balance between informative and patronizing, leading the viewer through the topic slowly but not just filling time with pointless shots.
I just watched the Blueberry one and I’m looking forward to watching more, and hoping they will make others!

@1hopefulman the others are interesting too - and it's nice to be able to show children so clearly where food comes from. I hope they do more!
