The Chef Is In The Kitchen

It's a bit on the overcast side here today but no snow or rain in the forecast for awhile. My daughter is going to a friends party later today so she's in the kitchen playing Master Chef and whipping up some concoction that she's going to bring. Their theme is a "tea party" so everyone is making something that would go with a high tea. I'm sure many of my friends here are more familiar with "high tea" than I am but it sounds like fun. My daughter is making little tea type sandwiches and also bringing a crockpot of nice broccoli cheddar soup. Right now she's in a frenzy because, like me, she procrastinated getting started and is now feeling pressure as the clock ticks by. I'm sure she'll get everything done on time but it's just one of those days when I wish I hadn't passed on that darn procrastination gene. What's going on in your corner of the myLot world today?

Eventually I overcame procrastination and I'm sure I'm much more relaxed about things now.

It was a grey day here today also. We picked something up at a store that our daughter-in-law ordered online, and we took it to them. It was a console table for their front hall, and my husband and son carried it into the house for her. After visiting together, my husband had a few odd jobs that he knew needed to be done, and my daughter-in-law and I went out and did some shopping. She bought a new lamp, a Christmas throw pillow and some gift boxes. We had a lot of fun together. She was really impressed when we got back to their house. My husband had cut down the closet door for the main bathroom, and rehung it, he put the window trim up in one of the spare bedrooms, put a door stop up, painted the ceiling in the front hall and puttied a spot where she took out a nail in a wall.

I'm preparing food for my extended family's dinner tomorrow. Or I was until I came on here. I baked a chocolate cake and I'll make a casserole early in the morning before we head out.

I know that in London many high standing restaurants offer "cucumber sandwiches" for the high tea.I made them and I have to say that I liked a lot more than I thought.

. I must be related to you. I do some of my best work after procrastinating. I've love going to high tea and have done them often on our trips to England, Paris, San Francisco, Boston, and New York City. My husband doesn't care for tea, but gets a pot of coffee served in silver coffee pots. We are recovering from a whirlwind day in NYC, yesterday. We slept late, worked out at the gym, went out to brunch, I read and napped while my hubs watched the NY Giants win, and just had dinner delivered and eaten. Our son and DIL met with their decorator again, ordered a dining room table, and are considering having area rugs custom made. They can't find anything they love. My husband is laughing because our son seems to have my taste and is looking for a crystal chandelier for the dining room. Who would have thought????. It's so sweet. He received a generator yesterday, but it won't be hooked up for a week or two. Like me, we like to cover all bases when it comes to power outages.

I hope the tea was a success. The soup sounds wonderful. I seem to get more done when I'm in a time crunch than if I have a lot of time to get it done. In my part of the myLot world, I'm getting notifications done for two days this morning. November 13 & 14 Then it's off to the store for a little bit of food for Thanksgiving. Then it's back to the books. I really want to finish New Horizons soon. I know it will be finished by the end of the month. I'd like it to be today. Then of course, because it isn't the end of the month, I'll start on the sequel to it, but I won't work on it past this month unless I feel the urge to. I need to get Thread of Evidence edited, which I'll have time for today as well.
