With today's entry most people who know me know what the top two will be, so my "announcements" for favorite albums from 1986 in essence ends today. It's just a guess which album is #1 from here, right? I started this after reading that @miketagz celebrated his 32nd birthday last week. I'm significantly older than 32 (I have a coat that's nearly 40!), which is why I bought these albums when they came out instead of reading about them. Here's the next album on the list. #3: Graceland - Paul Simon I suppose this isn't that much of a shock, either, given that it was the Grammy winner for 1986's "album of the year." In fact, I don't think there was a bad review of this album. If it did, it was spoken in a back room. Seriously, this is a great album. I would say that some of the accolades were stretched, given that Simon was hardly the first American to explore African rhythms for music ("Soolaimon" by Neil Diamond, anyone?), but there was a beautiful magic about this album that hit me then. It still hits me. Graceland Recorded by Paul Simon Produced by Paul Simon And, as a bonus for John, here's Linda Ronstadt's appearance on the album:
