Adversity is a part of life.. its another side to the coin called life. We all have our share of it. We cannot afford to focus and embrace only the good and reject adversity. We learn some important life lessons when we go through adversity . We learn the greatest skill of all resilience - the ability to get up, shake off the muck and move on. We learn to face worry, anxiety and fear head on and lift the trophy of courage at the end of it. We learn to live life in the face of adversity and show ourselves to be strong. We grow to respect our self and see our self in a better light. We understand our strengths. Adversity is our friend, not our enemy. When it comes we are troubled, but it helps us delve deep into ourselves and make those changes that can change our lives and perhaps those around us. Adversity is a challenge that life throws at us from time to time.. when adversity comes its time for a promotion. If we could look at adversity from this perspective life would be much easier. What are your thoughts on this?

I agree, instead of complaining of adversity why not turn it into positive outlook and that adversity will make us determined and stronger.

@xander6464 Its all in the mind, I think. if we look at it as a learning opportunity we could learn much from it.. But that is only my opinion.

@sofssu I suppose everything can be considered a learning opportunity but there are higher orders of opportunity and some at the lower end are just worthless.

Adversity is part of life. It helps us to be stronger individuals. We should always be ready for them when they come. We should do what we can to beat it, and most of all ask God's help.

@SIMPLYD I love the last part of your response.. adversity and happiness are the two shores within which life flows.. and we could be tossed from one side to another.. so we really ought to be ready for it and have faith enough to conquer it.. personally for me faith in God is what keeps me going day after day.

I recently wrote a sermon callled "Peace out of pain." The bad times often work to bring us to a better place. From the Christian perspective everything works together for good and trials make you stronger.

@sofssu I feel that way about it too. I was preaching in an immigration detention centre so my job is to bring hope. We have seen people released by a miracle.

I know that adversities are part of life, there is nothing you can do to prevent unpleasant events to happen. You can only get up, do your best to solve your problems and move on.

This could be an interesting discussion! How do you define adversity? What do you mean by the word adversity? Can you give a couple of examples of adversity?

@1hopefulman A difficult or unfavorable situation is what most dictionary say. When things do not go the way you want them to.. is my definition. My cousin lost her son a young man of 26 years to kidney failure.. she now works to bring comfort to those afflicted by the disease.. This is how adversity turned a not so compassionate person into a deeply compassionate and selfless human being, I hope that makes sense.

Every person has to experience some form of adversity. I'm able to manage my adversities by constantly praying. Meditating helps.

Trouble is a part of life, but we do not face all the same with her. Somebody is easily troubled, but some trouble paralyzes someone. I see by myself that I am putting all my thesis back into bad things in my life.

@sofssu Yes, my mother, for example, is very easy to handle all the troubles, it's kind of colder, while I am very hard and too emotional.
