Have you tried an inflatable sleep pillow when flying?

We are hoping to get to Ireland some time next year to visit our son and his wife. It is a long haul on the plane however you try to organise the flights. I find it hard to sleep on planes. I’m a bit too short to lean forward and rest my head on my arms on the seat in front and not supple enough to get my head down on my arms on the meal tray. I came across an ‘inflatable travel pillow sleep aid’ on Amazon and wondered if anyone has had any experience with it. It is like a huge pillow which you hug. You can lean forward against it and rest your head on the top. I think this could work for me but I thought I’d ask here is anyone has ever tried it. I can’t find a picture of it but I’ll try to put a link. The photo is of two donkeys in some ruins in Ireland.

I had it but actually I haven't used them before. It is not difficult for me to fall asleep during the flight. Usually I will play the games or watch movies for some time. And then I will feel tired and it is easier for me to fall asleep. And after that, there will be meals and this is why the time seems to pass faster even if it is a long flight.

I do all that too but I find it very difficult to get comfortable when I'm asleep. My head flops to one side and then I wake up etc etc.

@youless I think that might get a bit tiring for him. Sometimes his head is on my shoulder!

I can understand how difficult to have sleep in long distance flights. though the design of the pillow is looking good I am not sure how far that will be comfortable as i never used anything like this before!

@JudyEv , Is it not completely de-flatable?

@AKRao24 Yes it is and packs down to about 6 inches long which I guess is pretty small really.

I will look at a couple of other designs first I think. It might be a bit bulky to carry too.

@judyev Have you never heard of first class? It’s only £5500 each from Sydney return to Dublin with BA so you don’t need the expense of a fancy pillow.

@JudyEv There’s always some fly in the ointment. If I flew 1st class (and I wouldn’t) I’d refuse to sleep on case I missed something and didn’t get every last freebie on offer.

@xFiacre Freebie? It's not actually free you know. You've paid for whatever they give you a heap of times over.

I could do that but Vince refuses to be separated from me, so to speak, and wants to go first-class too.

Those donkeys look so curious and adorable. I never used such pillows and have no experience. But they seem to be good.

@JudyEv Indeed they are. Sleeping in longer flight is not so comfortable in economy class.

@arunima25 Sometimes there seems to be very little room especially if you have a big person sitting next to you.

I do not believe that this is a very good position for the neck. I am sure I would wake up with a terrible pain should I sleep in this position.

@JudyEv I have tried the one you put around your neck, better than nothing, but not perfect. At least my neck does not hurt for days.

I really need something as it's pretty uncomfortable without some sort of support.

The bulk of my flying experience has been military related. Regardless, I just cannot sleep on a plane, no matter how long the flight.

I don't usually bother to watch a movie as I can never the sound right but even if you're not picking up all the dialogue, they do help pass the time.

It is always difficult sleeping on airplanes, but I often did that somehow quite OK. I will have to go watch that clip to see new inventions.
