Imagine coming home in the wee hours of the morning because you were out and finding a party going on at your house and you weren't invited? That's what happened to a Montreal couple. A dozen strangers were enjoying a party at their house and they were all having a good time. How did this happen? How did these people enter the apartment? The event is under police investigation at this time. Is this about the strangest thing you ever heard?
A Montreal couple returned home after a recent evening out to discover their apartment filled with strangers having a party — drinking their alcohol, eating their food and trashing their place. Nobody who I had ever seen before," Adam Mongrain told CBC Mon

These people were most likely also scammed by a scam party booking company and became opportunistic when they saw things lying around.

I can understand being scammed but helping themselves to the valuables of the home, is a bit much?

@db20747 I think they should have done that right away and maybe they would not have stolen anything because their identities would be known.

Yes, I'm sure there have been many stranger things but this one takes the cake and they helped themselves to food, drinks and other things. It was two in the morning when the owners returned and I would guess that these strangers may even have thought that they could do whatever they wanted and that's what they did.

I agree with @cindiowens Not the strangest things I've heard since I've been around a bit. It can be shocking to come home to this, though weirder things have happened when people are away from their home.

The couple should have called the police right away instead of asking them to leave. That's what I would have done. At least, we would now get to the bottom of this strange event.

I have a feeling that is too late to find out who they are. It's strange also that they didn't call the police right away but asked the unwanted guests to leave instead. "Police told Mongrain that his story, while rare, is not the only one of its kind. Thieves are known to use rental sites to gain access to people's homes." CJAD

This is surely weird, how did they entered the house first? Did they get the keys? I will be curious to know more. OKAY now I know

There was no forced entry, so how did they get into the apartment? Was the door left open? I don't know! I hope there will be a follow-up story with a good explanation as to what exactly happened.

@1hopefulman I have to check, but if they rented through Booking.com, surely someone was there to open the door, may be the keys were under the mat and they got the wrong mat. So many people in your country hides the keys under the mat.

Apparently, he asked them to leave. He didn't call the police right away. I'm wondering if now he even knows who they were. "He asked the first person he locked eyes with for an explanation. Mongrain was told the group had reserved the apartment through Booking.com, a website that allows users to find deals on hotels and short-term rentals." Yahoo news

It is really bizarre. I just don't understand how something like that could happen. It is like a story I read years ago a man broke into a house and filled a bag with valuables. He then got hungry and while he was emptying the fridge a neighbor had called the cops and he got arrested

@just4him I find it strange that they come home a 2 AM, find a dozen people in their home eating and drinking their food and they do not call the police. I mean, isn't calling the police the first thing one would do? I would call the police even before I entered my home from hearing the noise.

Since they didn't call the police and just asked the trespassers and thieves to just leave, we may never know how they were able to get in.
