A different kind of rain in Northern California today

It's been raining on and off for several days in Northern California. But it has been a slow and steady rain. This is good, because we have had drought for several months. But last night's rain was different. It was a hard rain, with high winds. I hear that mudslides could occur in Paradise, where the recent fire was. Here is a picture of the waterfall from my roof as I headed off to work this morning. The rain gutter had been overwhelmed. How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

We had showers last night - but during the day it was on and off . . . mostly sunny warm. In the past 10 minutes we got a nice downpour of showers - but looks like it stopped again. The weather can't make up its mind today .

Looks like Al Gore is right as far as climate change is concerned! I wish somebody in the white house explain to Trump that weather is not climate. Bad weather is the effect of climate change.

@TheHorse Did you have bath all these months? I mean there was drought right? I wonder whether you pulled flush as often. My father panics when there is water shortage. He starts using flush sparingly.

Mudslides are bad, though I hope the rain puts the fires out. I hope the rain helps your drought. We got snow this morning. Nasty on the way for Sunday.

It rained really hard here today I have windshield wipers on max on the way to work. I'm not sure if mudslides have happened up in Paradise.

We've been getting sunny days and light breezes. Got a big Maui Jaws surf event for monster waves are hitting the island now from a northern storm. I hope where you live gets the weather they need. Christmas coming soon got my Christmas decor up already...watching Hallmark gets you all Christmasy.

@TheHorse Hallmark channel is now showing Christmas shows all the time on one of their channels 453 and on their other channel 452, after 12PM Christmas shows starts. Hallmark the card people has these television stations too.

Cold. By your standards pleasant. LOL. 28 C. Night time it is around 17 C. I wouldn't be so concerned about mud slides. Logically the fires would have moved laterally on the surface as there is no oxygen at the root levels to keep the fire going. Have there been mud slides before following such massive forest fires?

It was raining really hard for much of today. I'm happy for the plants/crops, and for the water table, but I hope we don't have flash floods or mudslides. I'm OK where I live.

@TheHorse Mudslides would be horrific. I just can't imagine seeing or being in a house sliding down a hill.

@TheHorse I understand what you are saying. Winter is our rainy season time in Jerusalem and we do not get enough of it so we have been in a drought for a long time. The weather said it will rain today but who knows because the weather people do not get it right most of the time. Lately it has been raining on Fridays and on Saturdays the sun has come out. We will see.

Wow, I hope that Paradise is spared from mudslides! I live in SW Missouri. It has been like Spring this week- mostly sunny and mid to upper 50's.

Overwhelmed? This is the first time I see this word used in a concrete sense. I thought at first that we should have pity with the poor rain gutter that it had to endure so much. The religious members , of which there are so many on this site, could pray for it. :-)

Praying might help. But I'd rather have the maintenance guys go up there and reinforce or replace that part of the rain gutter. I could see from the parking lot that it is bent outward.
