Need A Punch For My Veggies

Is anyone sick and tired of hearing me talk about salt anymore? I know I am sick of tired of talking about it. But it has simply been a 'theme' currently for me since I am on a salt restriction, and the more I pay attention to it, the more I see everything is just loaded with the stuff.
As such, I am doing whatever I can to limit my intake as much as I can to the doctor's recommendation of less than 2,000 mg per day.
It's hard as hell by the way.
So I have been cooking frozen veggies for years now, and always prefer them over canned. Which is good, because frozen veggies have no sodium. I used to boil them in some water and margarine. But margarine has quite a bit of salt. So now I am using unsalted butter which has no sodium (according to my package).
But unsalted butter is a little bit bland.
So, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a spice or seasoning I can add to the veggies to give them just a bit more punch?

What about products like Mrs. Dash? Isn't that a seasoning that does not have salt but adds flavor?

Yeah. I can and should. I am pretty good in the kitchen so I should be able to come up with something. Might have to put my brain to work and come up with a seasoning blend I think would add a nice touch. Not sure what that might be yet though.

@porwest I'm pretty sure people are always looking for a salt alternative to make the food taste awesome again. Make sure you let us know if you find anything good.

@hillhjill I most definitely will. I am actually thinking of going back over to HubPages a bit and writing a theme of articles with recipes for low salt eating. It might become a good earner. I create recipes all the time, so it should not be a hard thing to do and get some traction on.

There is "No Salt" which tastes similar but it is potassium instead of sodium.

Hmm. Interesting. I had heard of No Salt before, but never knew what it actually was. I have read that people with salt restrictions and high blood pressure issues can also eat potassium rich foods to help flush out the excess sodium. I may have to give this a closer look.

@porwest Yes, potassium is a great thing to help with that! Potassium rich foods are great to consume....I just know that people who need to supplement extra potassium use the no salt rather than potassium pills because the pills only have a small amount of potassium!

How about fresh produce instead of frozen? Eating fresh (like a salad) or steaming fresh to a crisp has more crunch and nutrition. For salad dressing, some olive oil and a touch of lemon or orange can be delicious. On that note, sometimes we add cut up fruit to the salad - without dressing. I know, I love my salt too . . . but if you can eat vegetables just the way they are without the sauces and such, you can enjoy them just the way they are too.

Well, my BP is getting better now that I am watching it more and taking my meds differently. I was not taking them properly and that was part of the problem for a little bit. I was taking them too close together for one. I am mostly healthy, but somewhere along the line my blood pressure went out of whack and its been a struggle to maintain it since.

Penzey's Mural of Flavor spice blend is a really good one and is salt-free. I use it in a lot of my marinades and rubs for chicken and pork. Mrs. Dash has a bunch of salt-free different blends too. I haven't tried them though so I don't know if they are any good. I love thyme on carrots. I usually roast the carrots with olive oil, salt, pepper, and dried thyme. Yum. Garlic powder for green beans is another good one.
