A Party And A Roast

So, the company Christmas party turned out to be a good time, as it usually is. We're a small group at our branch office. Just four of us and our wives. We started off the evening in Maplewood, MO at a restaurant called The Blue Duck. Then it was off to see Christmas lights at Jellystone Park in Eureka. After that we finished the night off at Top Golf.
Today just lazed around a bit in the morning until later making a little run to Best Buy since the wifey wanted a new phone. Then we tooled around inside Five Below (a store that sells everything at $5 or less), and then stopped in to Here Today.
Now I am working on a beef roast for dinner tonight.

That sounds like a good meal. I'm not sure where Here Today is a place or mainly mylot and you were playing on words?
I will be going to Best buy either tomorrow or wed as my computer can't be fixed. It seems the motherboard have up or went on strike or something

@porwest They must jack up the price a bit to at least make a bit of profit off the stuff. Is it a mom and pop type of store? They must have someone that goes around to do the buying and determine what will sell of what they find with good deals.

@MarshaMusselman Definitely not a mom and pop. But they are unique to the St. Louis metro area currently. Not sure how many locations they have right now, but they are a pretty cool store. I believe what they do is buy in truckloads of items not moving well for other retailers, buy them at a deep discount, and then pass those savings onto their customers. By buying at deep discounts, they can still manage a handsome margin while still selling below the average price for their products in other stores.

Here Today is a store that seems to stock items it gets from other chains at a discount and passes those discounts to their customers. It's a hodgepodge of food, clothes, household decorations, shoes, cookware, and just about anything else you can imagine. They actually have very good prices most of the time on their stuff.

The roast was a little dryer than I wanted it to be. Don't know why, but unless I put it into the crock pot I can't ever get it quite right. There is a secret out there I must be missing for sure. Don't get me wrong. It was good. Just a little dryer than I would have hoped for.

@MommyOfEli2013 It's a pretty neat store. Lots of bargains, and the stuff is of "fair" quality. I actually like the store quite a lot.

What kinds of lights do they have in the park? That sounds relaxing. Nice that there aren't that many people. Those holiday parties always give me a little bit of social anxiety if they are really big. We are having ours next week at my job and there is supposed to be a large turn out. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

There are only four of us in the office, so it's a fairly small group and we know each other very well, including our wives, so it cuts back on the 'social anxiety' factor. The lights to me were just a bunch of lights strung in trees. Nothing spectacular. But some of the displays did give us lots of fodder for jokes while we drove through the whole thing.

I don't think my husband's company is doing a Christmas party this year. It is already December 9th and I haven't heard anything about it so I guess it isn't happening. My work is having a party AFTER Christmas in January which I think is super-lame so I'm not going.
