So, this is my 1st post @ myLot. I couldn't really decide what to post about so I thought I'd open my news feed and just pick something. So, here it goes:
The article comes from the Good News Network and can be found here:
The "in" thing to do is thank a Veteran for their service. But when someone is actually sincere in expressing their thanks it's heart warming. As a retired Veteran I've been thanked several times.
So to sum this all up, please remember your service members during the holiday season. Many are deployed away from their loved ones and would much rather be home sipping some eggnog than doing what their doing.
Santa Claus took a break from chatting with his adoring young fans to get down on one knee and thank 93-year-old Bob Smiley for his service in WWII.

Welcome to myLot. Enjoy the site!
The first step for all newbies is to read the Guidelines to learn what is allowed or not on the site. Then you can write a post introducing yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Furthermore, read around as much as you can, Like and Comment on other members' posts. Only then will members come to your site and do the same. This is called interaction.
Don't expect too much money-wise. If you reach $5 a month (the payout limit), you can call yourself lucky.
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!

Thank you for the link to the Community Guidelines. I read through them so I guess I'll be good to go.
I'll work on the introduction.

I always take the time to thank a veteran for their service. And to show my sincerity, I usually will go up to them and shake their hand as I'm giving them thanks. A few weeks ago, I ran into a Korean War veteran at a restaurant, and I told the waitress that I wanted to pay for his meal as gratitude for his service.
I was almost brought to tears this past Memorial Day, when I flew from Florida to New York City for a long holiday weekend. A group of Marines just back from Afghanistan were on our flight, and when they boarded, everyone already seated on the flight stood up and clapped as they came aboard. It made me proud as hell to be an American!

I thank our Veterans every time I come across one. Their service is very special to us.
I received a special order for teddy bears from a lady with her father's Navy jacket. It had been hanging in the closet for years and she found out that I design and make teddy bears and she thought it would be a great idea to make memorial teddy bears from the jacket. I have the bears cut out and am going to sew them today. Hopefully I'll get them all stuffed by Monday so I can deliver them, otherwise it will be Thursday when they get delivered. But each of the lady's siblings is going to get a bear from the jacket...it's much better than letting the jacket sit in the closet and get eaten by moths. I'm making sure that each bear is worthy of being from the jacket, no comical bears, and the stripes and buttons from the jacket are being used on each bear. (I'll post pictures when they're done). I'm not charging the lady for doing the bears since it is the jacket from a Veteran.
