I'm sick

or getting sick or fighting something off. I went to my employer's health clinic today after work. My asthma has been brutal lately but today I couldn't stop coughing. It was embarrassing and disruptive to the class. I wanted to see if I could get a walk-in appointment for some Tessalon Pearle capsules which help to stop coughing. They were able to get me right in which was great. I love that place! Anyway, when the nurse took my temperature, it was over 100 degrees F. She said "you've got something brewing". My husband has been sick all week and I was rocking a pretty nasty headache all day but I just figured that it was because my students were particularly poorly-behaved today. The doctor came in and was concerned that my asthma has been so bad for the past 2 months. She put me back on oral steroids, gave me the Tessalon Pearles, and also put me on a Z-pack (antibiotics) to hopefully knock out whatever is making me sick. I picked up all of that medicine and a refill of my nebulizer stuff at the pharmacy there for free. Have I mentioned that I love that place?

It is part of the health benefits at my job. If we go to the employer's health clinic, we don't have to pay for the visit, for blood work, for x-rays, for physical therapy, for chiropractic care, or for any prescription medication that their pharmacy stocks. It is all free. We can choose to go to other doctors but then we are responsible for those extra expenses. Most employees (and their family members) choose to use the clinic for their basic health needs. I see my cardiologist when I need to. I'd see any other specialist that I had to. But for something like this where I knew they had the medicine that I needed--it is a no-brainer. They are open on weekends too which is wonderful.

@NJChicaa It's good to hear that you are content. I've heard that many Americans have problems with the health system.

@MALUSE Yes many people do. The American health care system is basically a nightmare. I have good benefits, though, so I can't complain.

Thank heavens, you got the medical care that you needed, right away:) Some clinics aren't that prompt, they lollygag around, to get things we need! I'm blessed with wonderful medical care. She contacts the pharmacy right after I visit the office.
