Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening my dear mylotters Since the year end will soon to come. I`m wondering, Where and how do you all celebrate New Year? This year me and my husband will be celebrating our new years day at my sisters in law place and enjoy there until the New Year comes. My sister in law has two wonderful kids and it`s so nice seeing them enjoying the holidays. How about you my dear mylotters, Where and how do you celebrate New Years Eve? I hope you can share it with me here. Photo: Google

We never have set plans for the Eve. But for New Year's Day, we always go to my parents house and have traditional Japanese New Year's food - a bunch of various dishes with different meanings (good luck, happiness, long life, etc). It's a family get together much like Christmas for us - but without all the gifts and such (thank goodness ) - just a relaxing time!

Cocktails here with friends, dinner out with friends, dessert here with friends, watch fireworks on the beach, watch the ball drop in Times Square in New York City, and then my husband throws everyone out. This will be our 6th one here in Florida.

I will celebrate the New Year's at home watching tv, cooking and eating, drinking a toast at 12:01AM, going to church on New Year's Day and coming home for more feasting and watching tv. We have special foods to eat on the eve and on New Year's Day. Buckwheat noodles before midnight on the eve is a must and on New Year's Day ozoni, a rice cake soup dish a must for New Year's Day.

Some people are arranging a New Year party in a community hall near our place. It was decided by yesterday. However, I am not interested since it is too much cold at night. I would like to stay inside home.

My sister will have her birthday on the 1st of January but she will celebrate it on the New Year's Eve. Probably I am there, too. On the New Year evening, I am invited to a masquerade ball night by my friends in a hotel in our city. I don't want to go but I am so curious that is why I will go. I have never been to this kind of party and so I am curious.
