This afternoon I was listening to some old songs and while hearing this one, I just had to go and get the blueberries out. I love blueberries and they have a multitude of good nutrients in them. As much as I love them, I have to limit my consumption because of the high vitamin K content which can affect blood clotting. Just had my blood test yesterday and it was fine, but it is only because I am very careful with what I eat. When I was a kid, my family used to go and pick wild blueberries and it was such a good time. Wonderful memories from those days. I wonder if it is the reason why I like blueberries so much. Fats Domino - blueberry hill
Blueberry Hill is a popular song published in 1940. The music was written by Vincent Rose, the lyrics by Al Lewis and Larry Stock. It was recorded six times ...

I love them too, in a small town down here they have a blueberry festival and there are farms to pick your own, I pick and freeze them, make jam and pie filling. You have wonderful memories there too.

Just reading your comments about me having good memories just kind of brought me back again to those sunny days with my family picking up blueberries and just totally enjoying the hours spent there. My Mom made a lot of good stuff with those blueberries. Our basement was full of home made jams and all kinds of relishes. Boy, do I miss my family!

@wolfgirl569 I'm the opposite I love blueberries but I hate raspberries and blackberries because of the seeds that grit in my teeth.

I like Blueberry Hill and I do like some blueberries in my fruit salad. Do they produce blood clots or prevent them?

@Juliaacv Vitamin K helps in clotting of blood - their effect is exactly opposite of that of aspirin or other anti-coagulant.

@Juliaacv, There is too much Vitamin K in blueberries and it thickens the blood,.I have to be extremely careful with what I eat as I have a rare blood disorder.

Talk about bringing back memories....I remember going blueberry (and blackberry) picking when I was a youngster and coming home with a pail full. They were so delicious and sweet. Of course I loved when my mom would bake a pie

I love blueberries too; but we only buy it from the groceries in preserved form; so how does it affect blood clotting?

The blueberries affect my blood rating as there is a lot of Vitamin K and this is the culprit.

Commercially grown blueberries are so different in taste than wild ones.

We used to pick wild blueberries as a child and nothing tastes quite as good as those berries. I didn't know that about vitamin K.

I will listen to your song choice a bit later as my husband is napping in the next room. I didn't realize that blueberries also affected blood clotting properties.... I also love blueberries and enjoyed picking the wild ones which we did every year when I was young, but my experience wasn't totally good as I got stung by bees two or thee of those years. Now, if I have bees around me, I just command them away and overall they don't bother me.

I was shocked too to learn that blueberries have a lot of Vitamin K. As most of green veggies and even chick peas which I love. Very frustrating. Sorry that your experience with blueberry picking was marred with being stung by bees even more than once. The wild blueberries were the best ones. All the delicious pies that could be made with them.

@marlina Even though I experienced the bees when quite young, I never requested to stay home for the picking. Not that i would have been allowed to remain home, but I did enjoy picking them and searching out for clumps that everyone else missed. It was a sort of like doing puzzles. I I just played your tune and realize I've heard that many times when younger. I was quite popular back then.

Since this is where I am headed, I hope that there is a lot of blueberries there and without Vitamin K. Specially made for the "good people" who made it there.

I never picked blueberries, but I used to pick blackberries with my grandmother and sister. Well I did pick them once at a friend's house. She had a vacation house in the Poconos..and we picked blueberries, and then her mother made us blueberry pancakes for breakfast..Hallejuah!
