When You Felt Most 'Patriotic' (or whatever you call 'Fellowship with Your Fellow Countrymen' in your country)

In this week's CBS Sunday Morning, they did a segment about Carole King (in light of her recent appearance in a Broadway-musical about her career). In the interview, she describes the song she wrote (in one night) that Aretha Franklin famously performed. They play a recent performance of the song (at some awards-show, I think), with Carole there amazed at the 'soul' Aretha-&-co. added to it, and with President Barack Obama wiping away a tear ... the same amazement/'soul'/tears that I was feeling. That's what my home-country (America) is to me: glorious moments of brightness, leading our hearts to brighter heights as our minds 'set our noses to the grindstone' (hard work, 'solitary confinement,' however we spend most of our day). What about you? What makes you 'proud to be a "native of your home-country"?
As the Broadway musical that celebrates the singer-songwriter's gifts marks its fifth anniversary, she surprised the audience by taking the stage to play herself

I remember seeing that response from Carole King on tv. I'm personally having more trouble feeling very patriotic these days.

It's a shame that people fool themselves into thinking politicians have any control over 'how great America is.'
