How often do you use your cruise control in the car?

I have only used the cruise control probably about 5x in this car. I decided I better use it today though..because between here and Culpeper there is a highway that is pretty free of traffic. It is marked 55 MPH, but I don't think anyone goes that on there. The average speed is over 60..which is fine.but I was in a little bit of hurry and stomping on the gas..I noticed I was close to 80! Yikes, no cops around but that could have gotten me a reckless driving ticket..so I put the cruise on about 62 and relaxed.

@snowy22315 I'm afraid I'd lose my focus, like start slacking off on being aware of my surroundings or something.

@fivecandles It happened without having it on cruise, so I knew at least I wouldn't be exceeding the speed limit.

Cops, here, if they see you, like to ticket over 5 MPH the speed limit. I do my best to keep it within 5 at all times.

Some police are more vigilant than others especially if they have a quota to make. I have found with the exception of this one they are more vigilant in small towns..as they don't seem to have enough to do.

@snowy22315 Ah yes. I was the victim of a quota ticket a few years ago. I wasn't speeding. It was the way I turned left. He had to give me a reason for stopping me because I think he expected I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. I'm short, so I tuck it under my arm so it doesn't cut off my air as it would cut across my throat. He gave me the ticket for turning into the far lane instead of the closer lane. Do you know how many people turn that way? About 98% of drivers turn into the far lane. Yes, it was a quota ticket. I was fined $10 for it when I showed up in court.

I don't think I have used my cruise control at all in the car I have right now.

It is helpful for the times you think your speed is getting away from you.

We use our cruise control quite often. Sometimes on the outskirts of towns the speed seems very slow if there is no-one around and the temptation to speed can be very strong.

@snowy22315 Yep, doing around 80 when it's 55 IS getting a bit out of hand!

I may have used it a couple times when I had a car Snowy. I was always wary of it.
