Should multi-level marketing be illegal?

Or should they under severe restrictions? I know this is a touchy subject. There are a lot of people who go into debt and have huge stockpiles of projects because they have to order so much in order to stay active in the business. I'm talking from personal experience and I'm a member of couple of support groups for people who tried to make it but only went into debt. The companies claim you can get financially free but in reality only 1% actually make a living AFTER paying taxes, products, admisson fees, business trips, etc. Then I see people jumping from MLM to MLM. I personally knew one lady in a span of 4 years signing up for 3, and she pressured me into buying stuff as a show of support. Man, the pressure the consultants are under is TREMENDOUS!!! I remember having to go through all my friends and asking them then trying to meet new people to shill my products and ended up alienating them because they felt pressured to buy stuff. Money isn't everything. Relationships matter more. And you can't buy love. You can't buy hgappiness either. Rant over. Lol

I have joined different network businesses and have lost money - but I have learned that we cannot trust everything, and now I am very careful to not use much or any money now.. The best one I joined was Neolife, and I am still with them. Have not earned much, as I have only one family in my network, but I have learned so much about health care, and it is worth more than money. I can now help my friends, and sell a little to them too. It is important that others should not feel any pressure to buy products, If they like them, they buy again. Neolife has been around since 1958 in about 50 countries. The scientists are working with Stanford University, so they have good and reliable products. This is my experience about Network marketing..

@Masihi I can understand you, I had to quit many network businesses for the same reason.

I think it would be a good idea to add what the abbreviation MLM means to make your post understandable. MyLot is an international site and people from other countries rarely know abbreviations.

I don't see why it should not be allowed. It is just a business like any other. If we don't like it then we should not get involved. I have done some in the past but am retired.

@1hopefulman MonaVie/TEAM was the one I maxed out in, then Mary Kay (didn't like the product and up line was impossible to deal with) then I was pressured to buy Yournique from the same lady, then she was selling scentsy for her daughter (hate scentsy) the only good products comes from Tupperware but I never signed up nor do I ever buy from an MLM - too pricey.

I suppose I hear so many horror stories and I myself maxed out and was still encouraged to stay by my upline. I prefer a more stable mainstream business venture myself :)
