The place where Jesus is said to have been born is in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Israel. The actual site is downstairs in the building, in a kind of cave. The actual site shown in the picture is covered with what looks like white marble with a fourteen pointed star. On the day when we were there, there were so many people there that we were hurried through with a guide continually telling us to 'Make picture' and 'Keep moving,' not a very spiritual setting.

Religious sites like this have been commercialised to the extreme. Jesus would not have approved

Had I been there I would have wanted to take my time and absorb the memories and feelings on the holy and important event.

Not a very spiritual setting indeed.
