Are you free for Valentine's Day? / myLot

I saw a Valentine's Day card one time, many years ago. I can't find it on line to show you, but as I remember it, it was something like: Charlie Brown to the little red headed girl: "Are you free for Valentine's Day? If not, I can go as high as $3.95." I don't have a clue why that stuck with me, but at the time I thought it was so funny. Whether you're free for Valentine's Day or not, I wish all of you a great day. We've never really celebrated the day. We don't either one need candy. Well, I want it, but don't need it. Not really into flowers a lot, either. We try to show our love in other ways throughout the year. Certainly have our ups and downs, but after being married 52 years, we're not going anywhere. Until God decides we are, that is.

We do not really celebrate in the sense that I do not want flowers and chocolate, but I always prepare a special dinner and decorate the table. I always did since we got married, 48 years ago.

I would have thought that a very funny card too. Valentines wasn't celebrated when we were young so we've never got into it. We try to be kind to each other every day. We're coming up 48 years married in September.

I didn't really celebrate it. The only thing I did was give Lily (my black cat) three kinds of treats. I was supposed to get my haircut yesterday, but my hairdresser was sick. I probably will get it cut next week.

We don't do Valentine's day either...it seems to me that consumerism is really pushing some of these "holidays" and the expectations are getting ridiculous. We've been known to refer to it as "stupid cupid day" around here
