Question of the Day- Roadside Service

Hey with all the posts I've been reading about cold weather and snow, one could possibly wind up getting stranded in your car. So, I thought I'd ask this question.
Do you use any type of auto service like AAA?
I have used this one over the years for roadside assistance. Their membership rate is very reasonable, and I've required help a few times.
Some of the emergencies I've had included dead battery, flat tire, having to be towed for a bad alternator, and one time, locking myself out of my car.
Having that service always gave me some peace of mind if I happened to get stuck somewhere. Knowing that if I did have car trouble AAA would provide me with timely assistance.
Do you have a membership with any roadside service? Have you ever needed to use them?

@CarolDM You could say that however mine is a very small fraction of the total cost of my yearly premium.

Yes, policies offer roadside assistance at very little cost.

@dgobucks226 Yes, but you are paying for them in the premium every month.

I always had some roadside assistance with my car insurance but thankfully never had to use it

@dgobucks226 I don't think rates would rise if you use it. My guess is it's just an added bonus you pay for and has nothing to do with collecting insurance payouts.

It's always nice to have protection even if you never have to use it. My car insurance has roadside service but I wonder if my rates will rise if I use it?

I do. I have both AARP and AAA. I like AARP the best though because their auto club is very affordable and includes up to a 100 mile tow with their nominal plan price. Most insurance companies have some kind of roadside assistance if necessary and some cell phone companies even do.

Thanks for that information. Never knew cell phone co. might offer road service. With up to a 100 mile tow you really have piece of mind if stranded.

@dgobucks226 Yes, I am in a rural area, so having that big tow capacity is comforting.

We do have AAA. My moms had it ever since she started driving. But has only needed to use it for locking keys in cars three times, and when towing cars to get worked on because we couldnt drive them.

I locked the keys in my car and had to be towed too. Always good to have the protection just in case. Thanks for your input

That's to bad. I've never had an issue when having to use them. Thanks for your response!
