From Scared Little Kitty to Adventurous Growing Cat

Today is the first anniversary of Charlie's arrival into our family. He was such a little things g back then and so scared of everything and everybody. He and his siblings had been rescued as a dumped litter at birth by an organisation that aims to socialise the dumped kittens before homes are found for them. Charlie was about three months old when he came to live with us. Poor thing, he had no idea what was happening. He spent most of his first day hiding under the table. The picture above was taken that day. Now, a year later he is an adventurous, loving friend, filled with curiosity about the world around him. When I looked at this first photo this morning I had forgotten how small and scared he was. Charlie has certainly given us many hours of love and laughter over the last year. He's a very important member of our family - and I think he knows it!

He does look scared. Those eyes are expressive. I'm glad he's given you a year of joy.

He has fascinating eyes, they look as if they've been lined with eye liner.

His eyes are quite unusual, we always say he looks as if he's applied eye liner. I'm not sure I'd call him wise - but very smart!

He reminds me of my little Nico who was also very scared and squeaking all time when I first got him. Now that he is a compartively big boy..at 7 months..he is enjoying his environment much more and knows what to expect.

@valmnz Honestly, he reminds me of an 18 month old toddler, which is what they are in many ways. His brain won't get much bigger..but I think he will remember some things.

They are so curious at that age, aren't they! Charlie was quite naughty while he settled in, but is now just active and always wanting to learn something new.

Yes, being dumped without your Mummy at such a young age can't be nice.

He will continue to explore the world around him and get into lots of things. The important thing is the fact he knows he is loved.

Charlie is lovely, I am so glad you "adopted" him. Bubi was 2 months old when my neighbor brought him home. He was scared, he cried, he fared that the other cats stole his food. Now he is a young, healthy little bully.

@valmnz He is a manx. He has absolutely no tail. He did run away to the neighbors house after I took him to the vet for a little operation. But I know he is safe over there.

I understand two of his siblings were so timid they still haven't been placed in homes. Imagine someone dumping them without their Mummy at just a few weeks.

That's so nice/ My sister's little cat spent the first day or two hiding behind the fridge but now rules the roost and is very confident and a great companion.

He continues to distrust everybody who comes to our house until he knows them. It can't be much fun being abandoned at birth.
