Victorian Baths, at Bath, UK

The picture shows the Victorian era bath at Bath, England. It is was used for bathing, and other activities [including sexual ones. Time after time. laws were passed separating male and female bathers, but seem to all have failed.]for many years after the Romans arrived there early in the first century AD. Later the baths were closed down because a microbe causing disease was found in the water. Happily this was being corrected when I was there serval years ago. Water for drinking is still available for a few pence in the Pump Room restaurant.

Very Picturesque. The water does look like maybe it has algae, though.

It certainly does. I do not remember it being exactly that color, even when I took this picture.

The Romans must have suffered in the British climate. They cured their arthritis in hot baths.

What's with the colour of the water? I'm not dipping my toes in anything that looks like that!

Actually, no one was allowed in the water because of dangerous microbes, but I do not remember that the water was this color when I took the picture.

The place is beautiful. But I can't say the same about the water.

I think it is a good place to hang out with friends. However, it is not healthy to take a bath here.

I was in Bath once and ate at the same tea room that Jane Austen had visited--or so I was told.

The water being greenish, at the time the photo was taken, it must be already unsafe to bathe in the pool. Algae must already be in abundance in the water.

@JWMILLER So is it ok or was there a problem with the water? If so, how did they fix it?

I can remember visiting when I was a child. Bath is a beautiful city as is the surrounding countryside.
