I never knew this existed till I went to NYC. It's a memorial to the soldiers that fought in the Korean war. It's located in Battery Park, on the outskirts of the financial district. It has the flags of every country that fought in the Korean war including my own (Australia) on the bottom of the memorial. My only information about the Korean war came from the TV series MASH when I was growing up. The series lasted for 10 years. The war only 2. I hope Trump and Kim are not about to ignite another one.

Our countries fought there together under a U.S. led United Nations coalition force.

@kepweng I know my history, I also read a lot about wars from ancient to modern, from battle tactics to weaponry and famous leaders and generals.

@louievill I read a lot about the Khans and Alexander the Great as well as the Greek and Romans but I dont think as many people were killed in all of history as were killed in the 20th Century through war.

@CoachME weapons are getting bigger and deadlier, I hate to think what would happen the next time all hell breaks loose as in WW3

I know we had to learn things about the Korean war in school, but there were so many wars in history class that I sometimes mix them up. Great photo though!

I always think of MASH when I think of the Korean war but it is sad that there were so many wars last century we mix them up.

It was a civil war that we became involved with apparently we were trying to "Stop the domino effect of communism in Asia" . It's what created the North and South Korea we have today.
