Cranberry Smoothie Experiment

It’s really not bad. I feel like I have had a little too much time on my hands today...clearly. I am on day 4 of 5 of being off of work, luckily I return Wednesday. I had taken a few “just because” vacation days hence the long weekend. I decided to experiment with some different additions to my smoothies. I have been eating just junk this week so to kind of detox I am having some fruit and spinach smoothies instead of the crap I have been eating. In this one, I tried frozen cranberries, fresh strawberries and blueberrys, unsweetened almond milk, 1 frozen banana, 2 tbs PB2 (fat free powdered peanut butter), and a little bit of chia seeds and flax seeds. The result is surprisingly good! Even with the cranberries, which I thought would make it almost too tart, it didn’t turn out bad. And they are supposed to be good for you, so there you go. Now back to my Kristin Hannah book. Ha! Do you eat cranberries? Or have you tried anything new in your smoothies lately?

I love the dried ones. I added them into cereals, cookies, granola, cake.... the lists goes on and on. I tried it in smoothies too. It taste fine. My smoothies consist of fullcream milk, dried cranberry and frozen banana. The tartness of cranberry balance out the sweetness of banana, so they are perfect together.

i have not tried fresh cranberries. we don't grow them here. but i drink cranberry juice from cartons and they taste good. i learned that they don't really use pure cranberry juice as it's very tart and sour. the juice brands normally mixes it with another kind of juice like apple concentrate, for instance. your cranberry smoothie sounds so delish. i'd like to try that someday.

You have tried quite a few different recipes there for smoothies. Which combo did you like best? I enjoy cranberry juice and dried cranberries a lot. Never thought of making a smoothie out of one but worth a try.

I have never had fresh cranberries but I’ve tossed in dried cranberries and cranberry sauce in smoothies and it was pretty good. The ingredients you put in your smoothie sound pretty yummy.

I haven''t had uncanned cranberries for a long time unless you count the dried fruit in the bag. I like them. Haven't had smoothies for a good while now. That sounds delicious and healthy Maezee. Glad you took some days off and have a good read.
