I was very uptight on my posture.
Talking about at the age of 50 yes that age.
I have seen many elderly at the time hunching over.
Said to myself this is what I do not want.
Though my posture has been fine at the age of 88 which I am very proud.
So what is all this.At the age of 50 I took ballet lesson to help with it.
Was so glad that I did.My posture still looks great for my age.
By the way I enjoy ballet lesson very much.
The photo was my first recital.

Some people develop spondylosis and it is not preventable. You are lucky. My parents would not allow us to slouch we always had to sit at the dining table sitting upright shoulders back no arms on the table etc! Ballet is good for your posture!

@amadeo General wear and tear of the neck and spinal column causing curvature of the spine! Hence the stooped look.

You certainly were a dashing young man Fredo
Posture was something drummed into my head from a young age. I heard it in school on a daily basis...sit up straight, stand up straight etc etc etc.

I wondered whether that was you, but then when I saw the costume, decided not. Good for you. I always tried to have better posture too but mostly because i knew some young girls that were very shy that walked bent over like an older person. Well not quite the same. This one girl had her neck bent over more than her back. I vowed that I would never look like that either.
Now, I have it to where my back is curved too much and I wonder had I not pushed my back the way I did when younger whether it wouldn't have the extra curve in there now. My chiropractor says this curve is easier to work with than the curve some people get when their spines curved.
Whatever. It's still not the most comfortable thing. Although at present it's manageable. If it ever gets worse I may end up walking with a rounded back to give my back a break.
Maybe some of the people we see have many reasons they don't walk straight any more and maybe not all of them are posture related like we once thought.

Ballet at 50? That is something most people would never want to attempt even while younger. But Yes posture is helpful. I would Love to be able to stand straight and hoping as my Health improves, I will be able to do this more.

You look like a real performer. If I don't catch myself, I find myself hunching..I have to make a conscious effort not to do it.

When kids these days hit eighty they're all going to be slouched over with massive problems following a lifetime of looking down at the phone in their lap!
