Have you ever seen a black tulip? I have some planted in my garden. But they are not actually black. Depends on how the sun hits the blooms. They are actually a very deep burgundy color, and very pretty. They have not bloomed this year yet but they should soon. This photo is from last year. They are probably my favorite flower in my garden. I just wish they lasted longer than about three weeks at the longest. But I enjoy them every single day when they bloom. I also have red, orange and yellow tulips. They look nice when they are in full bloom. Photo ©CarolDM Have you ever planted tulips? Have you seen this "black" tulip before?

I had an area full of them at the house before the one we have up north. They were among my favorites, because of the way they would seem to change colors. When hit by direct sunlight, they looked black, and when shaded, they looked deep purple. Now I have no tulips thanks to the deer coming out of our woods to munch them.

We had some of those black tulips in the garden at our old house. In the noon-day sun they would look black, but in the early morning sun they took on an eggplant colour. They really were something to enjoy.

I had it, but as there is not enough sun in my yard every year, there are less of them. I brought them from Holland

I think a black tulip would be pretty interesting. I did plant tulips one year around a tree, but even though they popped up..none of them bloomed..I guess I should have added more mulch or something..it was pretty disappointing.

It is beautiful to me. And it looks great with he other colors in the garden. Some of mine on some years do not all bloom, maybe add more fertilizer.

I have a few tulips in my yard but they are much more sensitive than my daffodils and don't always bloom.

It's gorgeous! I haven't seen one before. I tried planting them when I had my own home, but alas, I don't have a green thumb and they didn't bloom.
