A Spark of Hope

It was three weeks yesterday when my brakes went out on the car, and three weeks today when I had it towed to my son's.
That's three weeks of not being in the pool. Three weeks of eating eggs, and whittling away at what was in the freezer. I still have enough meat to make it to the end of the month and my next payday. Three weeks of watching my hair grow and look totally atrocious as I needed to cancel another hair appointment. My next is April 10th and I'm not canceling that one.
Three weeks of waiting, and yesterday my son gave me a spark of hope. He called and we went over to AutoZone to return the flaring kit, guys will know what that is, and have the rental fee put back on my card, and returned home. He did tell me he will work on it today and I should catch that word there, should have it back this weekend. He also said his landlord is after him to get the car out of the driveway.
There's hope coming my way finally. I know a lot of the reason he hasn't worked on it is because of the weather we've had in those three weeks. Mean freezing temps and then the quick thaw that flooded everywhere and closed schools and businesses because people couldn't get to work or school.
Now the temps are cooperating. We haven't had rain in over a week now and there still isn't any in the next few days. I'm looking forward to seeing my little red car in my parking lot and being able to come and go as I please.
If everything works out, and I really hope it does, I'll renew my membership with the Y next month and be back in the pool. I really miss it. However, I do have the hair to take care of and I need to order two more pairs of glasses.
I have the bifocals and the computer glasses ordered. However, the doctor also added a fourth that I haven't needed in the past - sunglasses. He has the line marked as year-round and driving. So, I'm guessing it has to do with my cataracts and the glare that makes it hard to see to drive. My biggest complaint about night driving, which is why I don't drive and get rides if I need to be somewhere.
So, I will be ordering my readers and sunglasses, which shouldn't be too expensive, but it's still an extra that I don't usually include in my monthly expenses.
It's a good thing I still have three plus boxes of eggs. I'm still going to keep my food spending down, even though I know Easter is also coming. I just might go to my son's for Easter. I know he'll make a leg of lamb, even if I can't.
I also found out something I hoped, but didn't trust, but am excited about. Buying food without money. Yep. I got my potatoes and bananas a few days ago without money. I used two $5 eCards for Wal-Mart earned from my Microsoft points I accrue every day when I open the computer. I need 6300 points for a $5 eCard. I wondered if the clerk would accept them, and she did. I was so happy.
I've also had a busy week which is why I'm three days behind. I'm working on those 200+ notifications, but I also want to work on my book this afternoon, so we'll see what I can accomplish in the next hour.
Thanks for reading. I hope your day and week has been a good one. Let me know.

Glad the day is coming that you will be getting your car back and able to do all of the things your normally do. My day and week has been ok. am still lagging behind in everything but reading and watching tv. I fell again and caught myself with my fractured wrist. Now it is impossible to use so I am typing with one hand. Hope you do get your car back really soon and can get back to your routine.

Oh No! I'm so sorry you fell again. Do you have a balance problem? I hope the wrist heals soon. At least spring is here and you don't need to worry about bad weather. Ah, you live in Florida don't you and don't need to worry about ice, right? I'm thinking like a Wisconsinite. As for the car, it's on hold again. I'm still in the waiting game.

I am so glad to hear this. I know all too well how it is to be without a vehicle. How do you earn Microsoft rewards? I find that interesting.

I got into it several months ago. I think I got an invite from Microsoft. I have a picture my computer opens with every day, and not always the same picture. It's connected to the rewards page. I'm sending you a pm.

I've used gift cards, but never an eCard. It's great that they worked.

I usually get the Amazon gift cards. But the others work at the places they are for. Still not cheering. All that bouncing was getting to me. But I am sure he will get it done.

That's great you tried the giftcards for walmart, and it worked.
Fingers are crossed for you about the car, and that the glasses wont cost you too much.

I was one month without a car, while living in Bay City. It wasn't fun, especially living alone with my two kids, in an apartment! My father plugged away at it, until my car was in tip-top shape. A woman isn't usually geared to keep a car maintained. When is your new photo being posted?

Wow, your week was exhausting. Contemplating a membership renewal, making your food supply last, hair appointments, ordering different varieties of glasses, and figuring out how you will use those e-cards. So many decisions to be made in one week
And your waiting for your car to return reminds me of a relatable song, Not about cars but a beautiful song of hope, love, peace and God. Have faith you and your car will be reunited very soon
"Watching and Waiting" (w/"I Never Thought I'd Live To Be A Million" intro) is the beautiful ending ballad on side two of the Moody Blues 1969 album; "To Our...

200 is pretty standard for me. I knew I was on a limited food budget this month, and eggs are cheap, and I love them, which is a good thing. I still have three boxes - 15 dozen eggs in the fridge. The snow wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have the frigid below zero temps to make doing anything impossible or the warm temps that melted everything super fast and put us into a flood situation. Otherwise, the car might have been done by now.

Having to wait so long on a vehicle repair is very frustrating. Hopefully you have it pack very soon.
