Where in the World....Would You Like to Go?

For 22 years I've had the companion (my best friend), but, due to health & financial struggles for both, we've mainly just done day trips. Even with those, it isn't always a full day & is more local. When we are able to travel more, we want to explore CA (where we're from) first & many of the other states. AK, CO, LA, OR, NM, NY, to name a few.
For international, I've always wanted to visit Italy. I enjoy history, food, culture, to name a few interests & Italy is rich in all of that. My friend is 1/2 Italian on his dad's side. Paternal grandpa from Naples. Paternal grandma from Sicily. He's never been there either. So, it would be nice for him to see where some of his family emigrated from. We'd like to be able to spend, at least, a month there. Checking out some of the touristy attractions & spending time with the locals. Where would you like to go?

I have a shorter lists of places I don't want to than of places I want to go to :-)
If I could just travel and not think about time and money I would start with visiting friends in Finland, Austria, France, the UK, the US and Australia and stop lot of places on my way there.

@GypsyButterfly Some of the areas I don't want to go to are the dangerous ones. Too much war is worse than too hot.
I've been to France a couple of time. I'd love to go back, but I'd like to brush up on my French first, and visit friends so I don't end up stuck with all the tourists. I visited a friend there years ago, she studied there so we wandered around in Paris and avoided the tourists.

Hi, Torunn. I'd like to see every place. Though, I know, currently, some areas would be rather dangerous to travel to. I'm inquisitive about so much & would love to learn about all these countries. In person, not, just from reading. Part of my heritage is French, so, would definitely love to visit France.

@Torunn I apologize for not getting back with you sooner. I haven't been on as much lately. I took a year of French, but, I didn't do that well with it. Partly due to the instructor. I've found that Spanish was easier for me. I'd like to become fluent in it. I'd like to see some tourist attractions, but, also spend some time getting to know the locals (no matter which country).

Hi, Rebel. I think that snow has it's own loveliness, though, wouldn't want to live somewhere that has it as part of the winter season.

@rebelann I apologize for not responding sooner. I haven't been on as much lately. Though, it doesn't get as cold here as some places, there's times it's gotten into the 20's & even teens. I don't care for hot weather. Anything over 85 is uncomfortable for me.
