Too soon?

I put some seed potatoes in a big planter outside, then covered it with plastic. I also put some lettuce seeds in another planter and covered them with leaves. Then I separated the tomato seedlings I had in one pot and planted them in the drive-thru coffee cups I've been saving. They're still in the kitchen window. I'm getting antsy for summer to get here so I can grow more food.

I have never had any luck with them sprouting the way I'd want. Maybe I went about it the wrong way.

I surely wish I could do the same Barbara. I just have not had it in me to do so ..finally I have a small patio that I could grow pots and stuff in. But this year I am still not into it. Hope yours grow very well and strong.

I planted peas and radishes already, but it snowed a couple of days ago... I have tomato and pepper seedlings under a light, but it will be quite some time before it's warm enough for them. (I think - my daughter puts hers out to harden almost as soon as they sprout). I have volunteer lettuce coming up in last year's plot, so I guess it's safe to plant it now!

I wouldn't keep them outside until may long weekend. I would keep mine in the shed covered or bathroom.

It was warm enough yesterday to put them out for a while but it was too windy for them. They're still in the kitchen window.

I put parsley, basil and dill seeds in different pots, I covered with plastic and put in the outdoor small greenhouse on the balcony. The hot chili peppers are already about one foot high, the tomatoes only a few inches.

I want a greenhouse, or at least a sunroom.

@BarBaraPrz The one I put on the balcony is very small, but good enough to start to put the seeds in pots before waiting the warmer days.

My tomato plants I started inside are now on the deck and about 2 feet tall, I am planting them in the garden Friday. I have one potato plant up. I am pushing summer.

Around here your timing would be just about right. Usually potatoes go in in Mid March.

I usually don't plant anything outside until May, either. This is more of an experiment than anything.

I'm thinking that it's probably too early but if their protected they might be okay.
