Pets and their toys

Do your pets destroy their toys? Or do they just play with them without destroying them? Our dog always destroys his toys. Ten minutes after he has received them he rips them apart. The last one was a toy rabbit. At first he removed the ears and then he started destroying the rest of the body. When he was done he lost interest in the rabbit (which didn't really look like a rabbit anymore) My mother's dog never destroys her toys. She still has the toys she received several years ago, and she loves to carry them around. When we had a cat she didn't have many toys. Not because we didn't want to give her toys, but because she never really showed any interest in them.

That is a good idea. Our dog also has some balls, and he is able to play with them without destroying them.

My dogs always try to chew the ears and tails off stuffed toys. The turtles ignore toys and the hamster just likes to run in his wheel. Now the rats, they chew anything and everything!

Our dog does the same. He can't stay away from the ears or the tails. The rabbit he got quickly lost its ears I have never had a hamster or rats, but we have a guinea pigs and two rabbits.

The cat is kind of rough on his toys, but the little dog who visits here often JAX is nicknamed TK for toykiller. Even though he is a little chihaua..he will destroy nearly any toy. The only things that are safe are really heavy duty toys like you would buy for a German Shepherd!

@Porcospino I got him what I thought was a heavy duty toy for Christmas. I never got to see him play with it. I was told he ripped it apart.

Toykiller is good nickname. That name also fits our dog. He destroys most of the toys he receives. Sometimes we give him stuffed toys, but he usually starts by removing the ears or the tails. He has a few balls and other toys that he hasn't been able to destroy.

@snowy22315 We have experienced that, too. Sometimes we buy toys for dog and we think that he won't be able to destroy them, but somehow he stilll manages to rip them apart.

We do not give toys to our pets. But yeah, some of them destroy stuff in our house, like shoes, slippers, and our sofa lol.

That sounds familiar Our dog loves shoes. We keep all of our shoes inside a closet. We never leave them on the floor. If we left them on the floor our dog would take them immediately. We also warn our visitors and tell them to put their shoes in the closet.

There many different kind of dog toys. Sometimes we buy real dog toys for him like balls from the pet store, but he also plays with stuffed toys. They don't last for a long time, he usually destroys them.

@Shivram59 Our dog loves stuffed toys or maybe it would be more correct to say that he loves to destroy stuffed toys Afterwards we have to pick up the pieces, our living room floor is not a pretty sight when the pieces are everywhere

What about giving it a resistant one? That'd be better, right?

He has some balls and other toys that he isn't able to destroy. Maybe we should buy more of those things. The stuffed toys never last long. One of my friends who lives in another part of the country is coming for a visit in June, she told me that she is going bring a toy for our dog. She knows that he likes to destroy toys, so I think she has chosen something resistant.

@jvicentevalera Our dog is almost 10 years old. He has always been a very active dog, but he has become a bit more quiet now. He still gets very happy when a visitor arrives. Fortunately most of our friends like dogs.

We don't have a cat anymore, but when we did, she never really liked toys. We tried to give her some toys, but she didn't show any interest in them. Our dog loves toys - and he destroys most of them.

My dogs, destroy their toys, their beds, they find all kinds of garbage and start chewing on it. even if it wasn't garbage to begin with it usually is by the time they are done with it! LOL

My dog does the same. Some time ago he got a new bed. The bed had a cushion when we bought it, but 10 minutes after he had received it, it didn't look like a cushion anymore

How many cats do you have? Our dog used to do that when we took care of another dog for a while. But most of the time we only have one dog, and he knows that no one takes his favorite toys.

Right now my dogs are pretty good with their toys. They only get torn up if the dogs start fighting over them.

We used to take care of the dog that my mother-in-law had, her dog and our dog would often fight over the toys. Now our dog is the only dog, so there are no fights over toys.

I just wrote a post about my dachshund Bella destroying her toys the moment she gets them. There are some that she really likes that she will not destroy. But, most are gone the day she gets them.

That sounds like our dog. He is happy when he gets new toys, but they never last very long. A few times they lasted a couple of days, but most of the time he destroys them the day he gets them.

I understand. In that case it is better to avoid pets.
