Chicken Soup, Missing Home and Goals

There is not a day goes by these days that I do not miss my home. I was torn from it many long years ago, and everyday comes the memories and heart ache of what happened to our family and our home. One day I may write it about it, but for now, I am making chicken soup on the stove top bubbling away and remembering my short few years of childhood before the typhoon hit. That is metaphorically speaking. Do you miss your home town or are you still living there? I would love to move back that way but circumstances have me tied here for the time being. It is a goal of mine to return even if only for a visit to walk down the very street I lived on growing up.

Yes, I feel pulled to my hometown too. I have wanted to have a summer place there for many years. I have seriously considered also renting an apartment there for a year after I sell this house..to see how it is, but my son is here..at least for now.I also feel I should help my parents. A summer place would be the best idea..because I love Richmond and want to live there too..but one thing at a time. I am sure you will be able to visit your hometown eventually. Think of the good things! When you have sad thoughts, try to replace them with something good..

@TiarasOceanView You are welcome! I can sell it, it is just a question of how much will I settle for?

I hope you realize the sale of your house I know you have been wanting to do that Snowy. And I also know the fact that your son is there, like mine is here. It is a dilemma for sure. A summer house how lovely that would be. Yes I try everyday without fail to be grateful and avoid sadness thank you Snowy.

My "home town" stopped being my home town months before my family moved away. Our town (Lakeview) was amalgamated with others into Mississauga. Then, when I went to college, my mom sold the house in the sleepy little town we had lived in for 7-8 years and moved to Guelph. But that was ok because too many chi chi people from Toronto started moving to the little town and the whole flavor of the place changed. And I've been moving around ever since. So, as someone once said, there's no "there" there.

I go back to my hometown every single weekend and on holidays sometimes. And I still sleep in the same room and same house I've lived with my parents when they were still alive.

@TiarasOceanView Yes I believe so. It's too old though and we don't have any plans to renovate it. Our neighbours actually ar enow commercial buildings and we do plan to put up a building in that very same location so we might tear the house down.

@TiarasOceanView This post makes me feel sad. I'm so sorry that you're missing your home and of course it's up to you whether or not you wish to share the story about this. As always, I am here for you! Please remember that. There is no home that I miss but there are places and people I yearn to visit or visit again / see again. I wish for you to one day reach your goal! And for you to be happy.

@TiarasOceanView I am sorry you had to leave your home that you liked so much. I am settled here in Israel and do not miss the States or where I grew up at all. When I was young I liked where I grew up and then when I became an adult it was so different and I could hardly wait to find another place to live far away from there and I did. I hope one day you can move back there and not have to leave. I love chicken soup. We call it Jewish penicillin.
