Too much was never enough

Her smile can light up the whole room As she gracefully walks in Her beauty and grace was adored by many Anyone who could have her must be Very lucky Everyone would wish to be with her She's filled with adoration and From the outside, she is strong But only one can make her Feel so weak and empty She gave up who she was And changed herself for a man who can't love For a man who only cares for no one but himself Still she would turn her back From everything and everyone she loves Thinking that in his arms is enough In this world of hers, The man that she loved the most was her center No one else matters Even if the whole world was against her Slowly she loses her spark She can't barely recognise herself She's stuck in a dark lonely place Everytime she finds the courage to Be free and start all over again Fear and doubt pulls her back She wanted to go back to the person That she was But as she looks into the mirror She finds it difficult to love The reflection that she sees For this is not her It was no longer her, It was that very moment that she realised that she Gave up to much of her For someone who can't even see her worth She's stuck in this place for a very long time That her fear and what ifs Is far stronger than her willingness To go back to who she was She was a beautiful flower that a man Took because he was amazed by her beauty But as she wither So was the love that he had for her This beautiful woman loses track of Who and what she was She had given up more than she could have taken She forgot to save a little for herself As she sits all alone Reminiscing all the good times Her tears fell out of her eyes With a sad smile, She now understands that too much will never be enough.

It seems that he was blinded and gave herself to someone that was only attracted by her beauty and not by her qualities. He didn't really love her. He only loved her physical shell. Explain please how too much will never be enough?

@erinmiles Yes, we can never give enough to some people. We are better off without those kind of people in our lives.

@1hopefulman I guess, you must never give everything to anyone. Always save something for yourself.

A sad reality that both men and women might face. Most would give more than what they should give but would never be enough.

It's such a lovely poem! So beautifully expressed. One should always know where to set the limits in any relationship and should always find time for self love.

Wise words, something that most of us forget every time we fall in love.
