Washing powder for Front Load and Top Load?

I never understood why there is difference between the front load washing powder and top load. I mean Surf and Tide seems to be selling them for years now. What is the difference if anyone knows for washing powder? How does it makes difference?

I use top loader. I fear the front loader would start to leak eventually!
