Too early for Christmas

I find it corny that in the Philippines Christmas decorations are put up so very early. I am in a small mall now and the tree is so big as if Christmas is near. At least the music is not a Christmas song.

It defeats the spirit of Christmas due to too much commercialism.

Yes, the Christmas spirit becomes trite when it goes for a long time.

@Alexandoy That's true. It becomes ineffective or has lost its significance.

It is way to early to have trees up and malls decorating for Christmas.

But they have been doing that maybe for 20 years. When I was a teenager the earliest Christmas decoration was on December 1.

It is too early for so many decorations. Ours will not go out in the malls for another couple of weeks, it will be near the end of November.

Well, most establishments in my area is already decorated for Christmas. I think it becomes a habit that after Halloween decoration for Christmas is next on the list.

For some reason here they are holding back this year on Christmas. For me Christmas starts a bit before December and ends for me when I want it to also. The turrones are not everywhere like they usually are have no idea why not.

@Alexandoy Its nice but then they have upped the Black Friday all over the place which I find quite tiresome till I get used to it and become numbed out to all the sales pitch. That is a really lovely tree not overdone just right I like it plenty of green

Our neighbors have Christmas trees and lanterns this October so I imitate them and hang the lantern already. The supermarkets here play Christmas songs as early as September. People are excited for Christmas

I guess Christmas is the longest celebration in our country. Regardless, SM malls usually do this yearly.

Yes, because the spirit starts in September courtesy of the commercial establishments.

On our gate, I always post the start and end of the nightly caroling, i.e. Dec 16 up to Dec 24 only. I post the announcement as early as the first week of December.

Don't you like Christmas songs? I think it is silly too, the earliness, starting Christmas in November really? I see people decorative lights already and stores giving out decorative shopping bags and such.

I love Christmas songs but not this early. Now I remember I have written several Christmas songs, I think 7 English and 7 Tagalog.

@Alexandoy I agree. It is difficult to "rock" around the Christmas tree when there isn't one to dance around. No, wait there is one. Still I think I'll delay until later. In the malls are they wanting people to pre-buy?

I think that the earlier the better. With the hard times we're having, it's nice to feel the Christmas spirit much earlier.

It's always the hard times we have. The Christmas spirit can help but doing it early may lose the value.
