So not happy with UPS

A delivery came for me today. UPS delivered. Rather than bringing the package to my apartment and knocking on the door, they left it right inside our building's front door where anyone could just pick it up and walk out the door. I only found out about the delivery thanks to an email from UPS and then a neighbor told me that she'd seen packages by the front door, after I mentioned that I could not find my package. There was a time when they would deliver packages to my apartment door, but they have stopped. I don't know what caused the change and I'm not happy about it, but they don't seem to care. And while I am usually notified ahead of time that a package is coming, this time there was no word until after it had been dropped off. I guess I'm lucky I got it at all. Now I hope that all the Christmas gifts I've ordered will be delivered okay. I'd hate to lose any gifts because I can't afford to buy duplicates. Peace Claudia

It's the busy time of the year and I bet they have hired on new people / temp workers. I don't ever seem to have problems with UPS but I have had it with fed ex and the postal service. I would call and complain because getting packages stolen is a huge headache and time waster.

This has been a problem much longer than just this time of year It's just getting worse and I suppose that could be from temp workers. I have complained more times than I can tell you. Amazon was appalled about it, but they still use UPS. And UPS took my complaints but nothing has changed. I finally gave up unless a package is stolen. One was already but even that didn't change anything.

@CRK109 I don't shop amazon anymore, for several reasons. One of which is that around here they employ drivers that pick the items up from a distribution center and deliver it to people themselves. I've had packages come later than expected because of this and once a man shone his light into our window. I said enough was enough and decided not to use amazon.

I know. It's too sad that a company can get away with being so uncaring about their customers

i'm none too happy with any delivery folks out here. ya ne'er know where they're gonna leave schtuff - ne'er'n the large weather-proof box'n the front porch. they'll not ring the bell either. they'll put 'em'n the back' f the yukon, one 'f the garages, the barn 'r claim they're not deliverable 'n slap a sticker'n the door. i despise 'em, complaints don't work either.

That's the real problem. Complaints mean nothing to them. I don't understand that.

That is terrible. I would call UPS and complain. I did when they delivered a heavy bird cage and put the boxes right in front of the front door so I couldn't even get the door open. What if there was a fire? I flipped out on them.

I told our maintenance guy and he was appalled. But even he said they don't want to hear it. I've complained because, a few months ago they began putting my packages in a common room where anyone could take them. I complained to the companies sending my packages in hopes they would also complain to UPS. But the only thing that has changed is that they are putting the packages in worse places now.

@CRK109 I would be blowing up their phone. I live on the 3rd floor and the mailmen, UPS, and FedEx people all deliver things to my doorstep.

Hmmm they should leave it in front of your door

I would not be happy either, I am glad that the local rule is to ask for the signature of the one who receives the package.

That would be very worrying. I think there are some who make a habit of picking up other people's boxes and making off with them.

well, if the delivers don't call our buyers or just put it in the front door, we surely report these to delivers' company. Thus here the delivers will call buyers or just put it on your hands. This is super good service.

I think people expect too much sometimes when it comes to this sort of thing. Look, people have ALL sorts of different schedules, and packages have to be delivered on a ROUTE. Unless you want to pay more for the package to be delivered when it is convenient to you, I suggest you go out and get it on your own time.
