Gift wrapper versus gift bag

I have noticed that gifts are now more common to be in a gift bag like those at the bottom of our Christmas tree in the picture. Although we had wrapped our gifts but I still see that there were many gift bags. They say that the gift bag is very convenient since that's where the store put the item that you buy and there is no need to wrap it. Oh my, does that mean the gift wrapper is going out of style?

@rakski wow, I love to be your neighbor, waheehee. I have a very low aptitude in gift wrapping, it's always lousy so I don't wrap anymore.

Maybe I am being sentimental that I still love the wrapped gifts.

because gift bags are reusable. with gift wrappers, it's one-time use.

@Alexandoy it would be weird to use christmas gift wrapper to cover notebooks or flower vases or tables. and as rakski said it's convenient. it's easier to carry and if the host gives you food to take home, you can put it there, too.

@hereandthere it reminds me of my grade school years that we had to cover the books and sometimes my mother would use the gift wrapper on a reversed position so the design is inside and the book cover looks white.

I mostly still wrap a gift as it's too easy to see what is in a gift bag if it isn't wrapped.

That is also my take but the trend is in the direction of the gift bag.

Yeah I noticed that too. Although the traditional gift wrapping is much more nicer to look at but the times calls for a much more faster way to wrapping gifts since you just put it the bag and seal them and its done. The old way may look nice but it needs some skills and time to wrap the gift nicely.
