How to avoid motorcycle accidents

As per the statistics, motorcycle accidents dominate the number of road accidents. That is mainly due to the rider's fault. A motorcycle lane was provided in main roads here but it is not exclusive so the vehicles are using it and the motorcycles are deprived. Our car was hit by a motorcycle 3 times and we had to spend for the damages even if it was the fault of the rider.

@Alexandoy I have ridden them years ago and they were fun but I don't trust the other drivers these days.

@CarolDM when I was a teenager, I admit that it was fun. I was also using my father's scooter just for roaming. But when motorcycle accidents became rampant, I avoided the motorcycle.

@May2k8 when there is always heavy traffic, motorcycles tend to weave in the lanes. That is a risky move that can cause accidents.

I had seen the heavy traffic in Jakarta 2 years ago. It was terrible in spite of having the avenues one-way.

I feel safer in a car than on a motorcycle. I have been on motorcycle rides but it’s definitely scary.

It is good that you feel scared of the motorcycle. The ride can cost you your life.

@Ladanger that is true. I am a person who is very cautious with risks. I would rather be safe than daring.

@Ajy78613 here it is not always in our hands. I was bumped at the rear 2 years ago. And that was in a traffic stop.

In America, the motorcycle riders aren't found to be at fault most often. I remember reading about that, and my guess would be a lot of cars just don't see the motorcycles. However, it is up to the rider to up their chances of survival; too many don't wear a helmet.

My dad told us to never get motorcycles. He had one in Japan and he fell off a bridge . We don't have motorcycle lanes here . . . but motorcyclists weave in and out of the car lanes . . . they are scary to us but I am surprised how they don't seem to be scared.

Any accident involving a motorcycle isn't likely to be good.

Would you believe that the head of the traffic bureau of the Metro Manila took a fancy ride on one motorcycle of the traffic cops under him. He fell and had a fractured arm. That was very embarrassing. That guy is now a senator.
