from bc to bc to bc

growing up, bc meant before christ. cellphones, computers and the internet arrived and bc became before computers. then i caught something from another mylotter's post - before corona! i agree. there will definitely be changes when this is all over - from personal, family, community, education, health and safety, business to governments. what changes do you foresee?

I have seen BC used as before corona on facebook recently. I do think that the world will be changed by this for sure. I am not quite sure how.

i guess it's because i don't have fb that's why i didn't know that's where before corona started. i saw it used in vicki's post about going to walmart. i wonder if it would help if all hospitals/medical facilities had sanitizing tents for all people coming in from now on.

@ScribbledAdNauseum i mean even after the virus is gone. anyone and anything coming in from all entrance/exit go/pass through some sanitizing procedure.

@hereandthere I know that some places around the US are doing something like that, or atleast trying to keep those with the virus contained away from everyone else.

I would like to be proved wrong, but what I feel is that the life is not going to be the same again in near future!

@hereandthere I am an optimistic and living in a country with very few active cases but back home I am not as optimistic and expecting India to enter in stage-3.

@m_audrey6788 i understand that everyone was caught unprepared, but i hope decision-makers will be more analytical next time and not just take drastic actions

the lockdown made it obvious that not all kinds of jobs can be done at home with a computer, that no transportation meant even those in essential jobs/services/businesses can't be expected to walk to work. the schoolyear was cut short, and i think what a headache teachers/professors will have.

Oh my gosh - before corona - you're so right! We talk about this at home everyday . . . life as we know it certainly won't be the same. But it's all going to depend on how and when we get a handle on this virus . . . and what happens until we get to that point. It's not like one day they will lift the bans and we all go back to what we were doing. I can see a lot of changes - too long to list. Some industries will be lost for a while, some industries may hang in there but even they will have to adjust to changes as their network changes.

@hereandthere I just saw this on FB: Nothing should go back to normal. Normal wasn't working. If we go back to the way things were, we will have lost the lesson. May we rise up and be better.

some will take it to heart, some will be good at first then forget and go back to how they were. but the biggest responsibilities will always be with big businesses and government. people can only do so much.

I expect working from home will become even more fashionable and future viruses will be taken much more seriously - we might also find some of the police state tactics and surveillance might not be so easily relaxed - the recession and unemployment to come will be dreadful and many businesses may not be able to reopen at all

@hereandthere I took part in a zoom meeting and vote yesterday - the first time for me. It is easy to use but yes, likely to draw security issues

a lot of people used zoom for meetings and it revealed a lot of privacy and security problems. a lot of scammers also taking advantage.

we don't have to be/feel extreme about it. some things are worth doing, like maintaining distance which people actually used to do, not allowing people to buy whole shelves of items to hoard for their family or resell at much higher prices to desperate people, developing clean habits in public and private places, etc.

@amitkokiladitya people need to be more responsible and use common sense. they can't just do what they want while this is going on.

true. my first thought when the lockdown was announced was for all the people who earn daily and who lived in cramped spaces. then it went to those who had to work because they are in essential services/businesses but there's no transportation.

There will definitely be a struggle to boost the economy once again. The change that I'd like to foresee is for people to actually learn from this experience.

i wouldn't want that yet. we don't even have self-checkouts yet. however, it wasn't nice knowing the privacy and security issues around zoom.

to be honest, my first thought went to the teachers/professors when classes were suspended early. like were they able to finish the curriculum? how will they grade their students? some students could have benefited from make-up classes or from projects.

yeah, busy means different things for different people stuck at home. some are busy cleaning and decluttering, or learning new things. while some are busy eating, some sleeping, watching anything they can think of and engaging in online arguments.

I think more people will be germaphobes, and hand sanitizer will be sold out long after this is over. Handshakes may become more rare as well.

we've already tried ordering and was disappointed when the offerings were limited. they probably lack certain ingredients/supplies due to work stoppage and no transportation. it's all inter-related.

Possibly more will want to continue working from home and hopefully some parents will realise how much they enjoy being with the children and will make more effort to spend quality time with them.

I think the next BC would be Be Cured; in all aspect as this is the best time for healing. Like nature is healing, rebuilding family connections/bonding, reflecting what went wrong and how we improve our lives, our relationships with our family and with God.
