I was surprised at the pharmacy

I went to pick up meds at the pharmacy, and neither the pharmacist or his assistant had gloves or masks on. The only thing that I noticed was their credit card machine was placed on a table outside the pharmacy, instead of the counter where it usually is, and they had a hard plastic shield up. I told them I was surprised they didn't have gloves or masks on, The assistant said that gloves wouldn't really work since they have to key in so many things, but other people seem to wear them and be able to do their work..they could have still had masks on, but they do have some separation from the people. I am sure in the city, the pharmacists and staff are more well protected, and probably even in a larger chain they would be.

The same here. The pharmacy has a plastic shield like a wall to separate the customer with the counter attendant.

It's not really enough, I don't think they should be handling things with their bare hands.

@Alexandoy Let's hope so, but I kind of doubt it honestly.

Gloves make no difference but there certainly is value in masks

If they make no difference, why are so many people wearing them? Germs are passed hand to hand, and we aren't supposed to shake hands. The pharmacists could have germs on their hands.

@NJChicaa I am talking about the pharmacists here. I personally take gloves off when I am in the car. They are medical people and should be taking precautions.

@snowy22315 You wear gloves and then touch everything including your purse handles, your wallet, your steering wheel, door knobs, etc. Grocery store? Cart handle and every single thing you buy.

That does sound crazy and risky.

I think so..most people in this area don't seem to be taking this as seriously as they need to.

At our Walmart Pharmacy they have clear shields to protect the ones who give you medicines, ring you up. She had on her mask and gloves. The credit card machine was on the other side of the shield ... a hole was cut in it so you could put your card through into the machine. As we walked away she took disinfectant and wiped it down. I saw masks on the pharmacists.

Yeah, see our pharmacy and pharmacists are backwards. I mean we may not have a lot of positive cases here, but precautions need to be followed.

Gloves are pointless because the virus sticks to them and can be spread by them.

Most phArmacists are wearing disposable gloves look at the nurses in the hisoital. They are wearing all the protective gear they can muster. You wkylsn,t expect to see a nurse, doctor or dentist without gloves.

Look atnurzes, doctor,s in the hospital. They are wearing all the protective gear they can muster. PhArmacists aren,t doing invasive procedures but they still contaminate items with bare hands. Effective or not they should set a good example.

My pharmacy had a sign up saying not to be alarmed by the staff wearing masks and gloves, that it was just a precaution (CVS). At the front they had a table blocking your way to checkout and you had to lean over to give them your money or card. Whereas, at another pharmacy (Wal-Mart) they had gloves only. In fact, their entire Wal-Mart staff had gloves on. I would wear gloves more than a face mask.

The store is frequently stupid, but the pharmacist should know better.

I think a mask is a must. After all, the virus is transmitted through respiratory tract.

That is surprising that they didn't have masks. After weeks of this virus keeping us all on edge you would think they would be better protected. Was the store crowded?

Not too crowded, but still...They are coming in contact with lots of people who could be sick, as medical people, they should be setting a good example.

I think gloves give a false sense of safety sometimes as you'd need to be continually changing them if, for instance, you were handling money.

I haven't been out for the last two weeks, so don't really know how the staff at our local pharmacies fare in regards of wearing gloves/mask. It is risky regardless during this time of crisis if those staff don't wear any.
