The older I get, the harder it is for me to sit or lay still. My legs will start to ache, and I have to get up and walk around. I do have fibromyalgia (as I know some other mylotters do), but I've had it for ages, it seems. The older you get, what do you find you do?

Specifically for aches and/or twitchiness in my legs and arms I find if I drink a glass of regular V8 with my evening meal it is less. I do find that I hurt more when I am in bed than when I am up, or maybe just notice it more. I have moved an exercise machine in and hope that stretching out my muscles on a regular basis helps. I find that gentle activity like walking during the day makes my nights better. Could be why I am missing school, no walking the halls.

Since my retirement I find that I am less active. Getting outside for a walk with Little Miss helps immensely. Just have to not walk steep inclines.

In the office, we have a rule to stand up and spend 5 minutes away from the seat, that is an hourly ritual. Here at home, I still do it because sitting for long would give me pains sometimes.

I have periods where my legs will ache badly in bed then I'll go for months without any trouble. But everything is harder to do than it once was.

If I stay sedentary for too long, I feel stiff and achy. Have to get up and move around. Once warmer weather gets here it will be easier to go outside. Don't much care for the rainy days of April.

I can no longer weeding or sitting still (in front of my laptop) for long hours any more. My back hurts every time I did so these days.

I cant lie still in bed. My legs ache. The bottoms of my legs. They twitch. My shoulders hurt. My ankles hurt. My knees hurt. I pee more. I forget things more often. I walk really slow. Im not as strong as I was. My eyes are bad. Theres more, but I dont want to get depressed. I still eat loads though and I can still ride my bike. Not quite 60.

But your heart is young! Everything else does sound pretty darn painful.

Did you ever think that 'eating loads' contributes to the other aches and pains???

@AmbiePam I got my biological clock done last year in the summer. 54 years old it said. Bloody old 54.

The older I get, the more frequent my back aches. So I try to spend less time sitting.

I have always been one to get up and move around as often as possible. That hasn't changed any for me as the years roll on. I hope that you continue to move around and keep that blood flowing.

Are you suffering from "restless legs" maybe?

Keep moving if you can. I have trouble whether I'm sitting still or walking around (arthritis).

I don't know what to say. I am young and I have pain. I think age is just a number.

As you know, fibromyalgia has nothing to do with getting older. But moving around helps me.

I'm afraid of old age just because I think it brings illness.

It may, but we also get better at dealing with difficult things, like an illness.

My arthritis is giving me a run for the money. My right knee is especially giving me difficulty. I have osteoarthritis in it. After I took a walk with Little Miss last week and walking up and down a steep incline triggered a lot of pain. Just ordered a knee brace and it should be here by Friday. Need some support to ease the pain.

I no longer get older--at my age I am old with all the aches and pains you hear about old people having plus a few you don't!

I never sit still for more than 30 minutes, even watching TV. It’s best to keep your circulation going.

I used to be able to sit with the dog on my lap, or hold my niece and nephew with no problems. Now, after 15 minutes, I have to get up.
