food chains products are being sold at our supermarket

i thought the fried chicken drumsticks we had earlier this week was especially yummy. was surprised when sister said it was actually chickenjoy from jollibee (a popular filipino food chain here). she saw them being sold at the supermarket - packs of marinated chicken ready to cook with the brand and product name printed on it. she also bought 1 pack of chowking marinated chicken thighs (also 8 pieces). chowking is a sister company of jollibee. it reminds me of that quote "If the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain." big businesses have to find ways to minimize their losses. there's no public transportation and not everyone can afford food delivery and pick-up, but the supermarket is the most accessible to everyone here and it's a one-stop shop. do you still go out to shop for food or have them delivered? have food companies/suppliers become more creative where you live?

@almostoveryou i was able to slip into savemore today (so it's not true they only let it those with qpass) and i didn't see it anymore. try and search "jollibee ready to cook" and check which stores offer pick up or delivery.

@hereandthere not so lucky me. the save more branch in our subdivision is already within the city next to us. it's in the boundary. we can't go there now. wondering if jollibee delivers those?

I go to the store myself for groceries because it usually takes a couple of days to get them delivered due to the high volume of deliveries.

i'm thankful that the wet market and the supermarket are just walking distance here, but you have to bear with the long lines because they limit the number of people inside

I have still not gone to Jollibee all this time! There is one out here (about a 15 minute drive) . . . they are still open according to the website. Many of the delivery services here are overwhelmed and it seems problematic at the moment. I don't go grocery shopping as much as I used to - so I do get my face mask out and go food hunting myself - and make these trips count! With prepared food, we have not gotten any . . . we have cooked all meals at home.

@hereandthere Ah - spoiled me did not even think of that. I have my car and just throw everything in the trunk after going to multiple stores. But now it is getting hot, so I cannot keep too many things in the car for too long, so that means stopping at my house (or my parents house because I shop for them now) - so shopping becomes a whole day ordeal.

@much2say that's what people here realize when they move or just visit other countries - they either have to learn to drive or learn to walk long distances. here we're spoiled, too. we will ride a tricycle or a jeepney even if it's just 2 streets away.

the problem people have here is carrying the stuff home because of the transportation ban so they started using their bicycles, electric scooters, and trolleys.

Early in the morning the stores are busy here. Later on there are few people in the stores.

@hereandthere I also thought that it is convenient to have this online shopping for food. The sad part is that it is not that popular to deliver vegetables, fruits, and the like in our country.

@Shavkat the wet market and supermarket are just 2 streets away here, and there are also sidewalk sellers. i also know there is someone with a motorcycle who goes to some houses here to sell veggies and another who has a bicycle who offers seafood.

they are also sold at selected stores. here's the official directory from the jollibee website. the stores with asterisks are the ones that sell the 'ready to cook'

@hereandthere When I need to get prescriptions or food I have to go out. I prefer to go out myself so can see what getting. I ordered once online and they did not have things I needed so had to substitute so had to take what I got. Two stores I have gone to around where I live do not have all what I want to went to another one.

they are restricting how much medicine you buy so there's enough for everyone. some we were able to buy but had to walk quite a distance. some we were able to order online and had to arrange/pay for pickup and delivery.

In Shopwise, someone from the family already bought Lumpiang Shanghai from Chowking. But I just thought that homemade Lumpias are better,

really? so this confirms it's also available in groceries. i agree. i never order lumpia when i go to fastfood places. they're usually burnt inside and out or burnt inside, not cooked inside. or too much wrapper.

they are finding ways to move the stocks in their warehouses and commissaries. the upside where you live is access to fresh vegetables, fruits, fish/seafood, even pork and chicken if you raise them.

if you see mamerto's response in this discussion, he said chowking's lumpia was being sold in shopwise. if you're interested, here is the official directory from jollibee. it lists down which stores sell the 'ready to cook' for takeout, drive through and delivery. just select the correct location (luzon metro north or metro south)
