Are gas prices still low where you live?

Gas prices are always high in California, relative to the rest of the nation (I'm not sure about New York). It's kind of ironic, because we have lots of refineries here, and we can sometimes smell the fumes they belch out. My sense of time is screwed up right now, but it feels like it was about a year ago when some stations here were selling Regular for close to $4.00/gallon. I chirped a few months ago when prices dropped. At that time I was paying $2.85 at "my station." Chevron (right by the freeway) was still charging about $3:25 A few weeks ago (maybe even a couple of months), I noticed that the price at my station had dropped to $2.59. It has remained there ever since. How are gas prices where you live? Have they hit a bottom and stayed the same for awhile?

Yeppers. Cheaper than near the big cities, but still fairly high.

@TheHorse Yeah,we always higher than everywhere else no matter part of state.Think Hawaii is only state with higher prices than us. Alaska usually has similar prices to what we have.

@crossbones27 I hadn't known that Hawaii and Alaska were bad too.I amuse myself while driving to Montana in the Summers by watching the prices drop the further away from California I get. By the time I get to Montana, it's generally about $1.10 less than in suburban CA.

Our prices are lower than they were but we still pay a lot more than you do in the States.

@TheHorse In the UK it is tax which leads to high prices. If a litre costs £1 then 58p is fuel excise duty and 20p is Value Added Tax (VAT), both of which go to the government.

Europe always seems a bit high too. Why is that?

Yes, but I think they are rising. I just paid 1.71...but it had been about 1.51.

I will check my "discount" station over the next few days. Because I don't start "on-site" work until July, I probably won't be driving much in the near future. Unless I go nuts here and head to Montana.

@wolfgirl569 I always do. They're generally $1.10 lower by the time I get to Lewistown Montana.

That's still a great deal by California standards. But I guess I am glad I filled up the other day.

@jstory07 That's been my impression when I head North, or return home from Montana via Spokane and then Portland.

I have checked two days ago because I have a coupon that expires at the end of this month. The gas here costs 1.44 € per liter. There are 3.7854 liters in one gallon, that means that the price per gallon is € 5.45 that means 5.94$. In Europe it is a lot more expensive than in your country, Switzerland is not even the most expensive.

We haven’t driven our cars since our trip home from Florida. The prices for premium unleaded were dirt cheap then.

There is a difference between gasoline price and crude oil price. The news informs about drop in crude oil price. Due to inflation and added cost of manufacturing the gasoline price goes up.
