Dragging My Husband to the Golf Course

Right now the nearby golf course has a special on Monday and Tuesday. It costs $12 for 12 holes. On Monday, I cleaned up my clubs and golf bag as they have been sitting in the shed for 2 years! I told Hubby about the deal. I told him I wanted to go. So many places are closed and it is easy to physically distance from others at the golf course. On Tuesday morning he was very reluctant. His feet would hurt if he walked that far. He was not interested in spending $30 on a cart. I said I did not want to drag him there, I could cycle or paddle, or walk by myself. Finally, suddenly, he said, "Let's go!" Luckily, it's easy to get a Tee time there. Off we went. Now he says we should do that twice a week! But he may decide to get a cart next time. Are you ever glad you did something when you had really just felt like staying home?

Yes, many times I've been glad someone has talked me into something I thought I didn't want to do.

Luckily he was glad in the end. Or the evening might have been tense

@paigea I am fighting with errors, it takes so long to reply to the notifications and read new posts that I decided not to post for the moment.

I guess it happens to everyone. I often need to be coaxed to go places.

Not my idea of fun, but glad that your Hubby enjoyed it and wants to get back into it twice a week!

I will be surprised if we even go once a week. But it is nice to go occasionally. Outside, physically distanced and close to home.

I will never drag myself to the gym. Glad we didn't get a cart though, I need exercise.

You finally talked him round and at least he didn't say "I would have been better off staying at home"

You would have a hard time trying to convince my husband and I to go play golf, not just our thing.

It was nice to leave our seclusion and see people, just to wave to. And get some exercise that wasn't yard work.

That's great that you got to go golfing. But why only 12 holes? A course is either 9 or 18 holes, so it just seemed odd to me to only play 12. There have been handfuls of times when I didn't want to do something, but was dragged kicking and screaming to do it anyway. And I ended up having a great time in almost all instances.

@paigea You can't argue with a dollar per hole. That is a fantastic deal. If that deal was offered here at any of our courses, and I had the time, I would be out playing every day!

@moffittjc My parents would have also. We are "social golfers". This course is good for us to practice a couple times per year so we can occasionally golf okay with the real golfers And where they golf is not $26!

It is just a special deal. Regular for 9 holes is $26. Monday and Tuesday It is $12 for 9 holes and they give you 3 extra holes to make it $1 a hole. You start on 7 or 12 which kind of didn't make sense and meant extra walking for Hubby

Yes and I understand about the hubby not wanting to walk very far. I didn't know you golfed too. Both of the courses in our city for flooded and I don't know if they are open again yet although I no longer see the mid so maybe they are.

Flooding! Yikes. We golf occasionally. My family all golfed but I call myself a social golfer. Mostly I just golfed to get together with family. Now we don't do that any more but Hubby and I golf now and then.

Our CC club is still closed, so no golf for us. I did have a good time doing things on the spur of the moment. Usually I am the instigator.

Golf courses are open, with restrictions/distancing. It is a little country golf course with no crowd. Barely got close enough to even wave at people. Golf and home before we need the bathroom!
