Running around in the shower

MyLot member, Jimbo, has lost a little weight. I commented that he’d soon be a shadow of his former self. All my husband’s family were slim as young people and Vince was very thin when we married. For years, I weighed more than him which was a bit mortifying but thankfully he is now a few kilos more than me. When we were first married, my grandmother would tell Vince that he was so skinny he’d have to stand up twice to make a shadow. Her other favourite jibe was to tell him that he’d have to run around in the shower to get wet. Luckily, he didn’t take offence easily. The photo is of a shower in Ireland. The lights went from blue to red as the shower got hotter. I'd never seen one before and thought it very nifty.

It seems that Vince and I are in the same tribe. I weighed 115 pounds when I got married and now I am 150 pounds but not fat for my 5 feet, 7 and 1/2 inches of height.

Vince isn't quite that tall and a bit heavier but he could be a lot worse.

@Alexandoy Can you eat more fattening foods? I read somewhere that double malted milkshakes have a huge amount of calories.

I have exactly the same shower that I bought at Aldi, our friend from Monte Carlo wanted the same when he stayed at our home last year. My husband is very thin now, but still 8 Kg more than I am, in the past he was 16 Kg more, I was 42 Kg when we got married, but I am 47 Kg now.

@JudyEv The maximum I reached during my life was 49, but most of my life I was 44/46. I am not tall 1.60 (5'2").

@LadyDuck Have you heard the saying - something like 'I'm not overweight. I'm just 18 inches too short.' lol

47 kg?? That is really tiny! I'd be too embarrassed to say what I am.

@judyev My grandmother would have referred to Vince as two yards of chewed string or six feet of pump water. Now about that colourful shower head, do engineers and designer freaks have nothing better to think about? Why not come up with something useful for the bathroom like an automatic, mechanical hand that will wash ones feet since bending in a small shower cubicle is ill-advised as the years roll on?

Two yards of chewed string - must remember that one. The shower head is useful in that you should know not to get under it when the light is red. But you're right about needing something to help in foot-washing.

Vince lost some a while back and keeps pretty steady now. I work hard to stay as I am but can't seem to lose any more - at least, not at the moment.

Your grandmother sure was funny! I'll have to remember both of those lines for my son. He is super skinny. He'll get a laugh when I tell him both of those lines your grandmother used on Vince.

There were a couple of others in the comments - about not going out in a strong wind and being like a piece of chewed string.

Oh dear. That sounds a bit drastic. It is supposed to be a safely issue. If the lights are red, the water might be too hot for safety.

Stand up twice to make a shadow! That made me chuckle. Me being a little fluffier than my husband, I say that you don't need to shake the sheets to find me. LOL. Pretty neat shower head. Battery operated I assume. I wouldn't want to have a lighted electrical devise spraying water on me!

Cool showerhead. When I was in college I was skinny. They never tell me to run around the shower but often times they told me to stay indoors if it is windy.

I am glad Vince was not offended. I was offended when some classmates made fun of me when they kept on joking how thin I was. That is a very interesting shower. I have not seen a shower like that in Ireland.
