I never learn my lesson

Avocados are always a thorn in my side. They are either rock solid or rotten in my world. There is no in between. I get them, I want to use them, they aren't ripe yet, so I leave them on the counter and forget all about them until they are too ripe and starting to rot. It never fails. I included some in my Instacart order for this morning. What did I receive? Rock hard avocados. I need to remember to just go to the local Mexican grocery when I want some. They always have hundreds of them that are perfectly ripe.

I am so sorry to hear that you're always struggling with Advocados. I've personally never had alot of experience cooking with these, but I've tasted a wonderful salad last year, and I should probably ask for a recipe. Here is my reminder, to help remind you. Go to the local Mexican grocery store nex time you need an advocado of the correct ripeness.

At TJs, I get a bag of the teeny avocados. As soon as they get sort of ripe on the counter, I throw them in the fridge and they seem to last a while in there! Even if too much time has passed, I open them up and most of the time they're not really bad. So weird, I didn't discover these until a few months ago (I normally like the huge Haas avocados).

I use TJ Hass avocados. Never had to wait long until they were ripe.

When they are hard, wrap them in newspaper or other similar paper (not the shiny one). Check them once in a while. Take them out when they are ready, not a single minute before. And donĀ“t place them in the fridge.

I know what you mean. I scooped mold out of the top of a little avocado yesterday. Blech.

I never have any luck with them either and many times they're really bruised up from people squeezing them to see if they're ripe.
