Few days back I was listening to a doctor on Facebook who was sharing things about Corona virus and shared a lot of things and in these things he mentioned that with the use of alcoholic hand Sanitizer our Immunity is reduced, I don't know the basis of this information and don't know if we should avoid using any alcoholic hand Sanitizer. Do you believe that Alcoholic Sanitizer can Reduce our Immunity?

That theory has been around as long as hand sanitizer has been around. I feel it necessary to use hand sanitizer after I take my gloves off when I get into my car. But, it is paramount that I wash very well with soapy water a few minutes later when I get back home. Nothing-not hand sanitizer nor gloves replaces the need for proper hand washing. If covid has taught people anything, that should be proper hand washing and not to touch your face.

This seems to be a fairly prevalent myth that is circulating at the moment and I cannot find any reliable basis for it. I think that the article below says it all.

Thanks yes there is no base of this myth but I guess we should limit the use because too much of it won't be a good idea

Sanitizers do not discriminate between good germs and bad germs. So yes it can if you over use it as your body carries good germs on it also that are getting destroyed. It comes down to using it sensibly.

I would prefer to keep it in moderation because overdoing things might have its own negative effects. Use sanitizers when absolutely necessary and when possible, stick to the regular method of washing your hands. I think that would be good.

I don't know if sanitizer will reduce immunity. I just keep washing my hands with good old fashioned soap and water.

I have already read that too. It is better to wash our hands frequently instead.

In my opinion we should go on with life as usual. The weak will die. The stronger will survive. Just like any other virus-swine, h1n1, dengue etc.
